I like women :)
I hate sports
Well, I sort of already answered that question about chimpanzee consent:
Legga said:I actually don't think it would be such a bad idea to ask chimpanzees to consent and fight in MMA. I don't see the problem. Firstly, if you elevate them on the level of humans, then it's speciesism to deny them rights to MMA. If you don't elevate them on the level of humans, then it's also not a problem because, frankly, they're animals. We anyway eat animals and treat them like shit. It's not then a question of whether or not they can consent, which they can.
The reason we have things in place for children is because they're not mature enough. They will be able to make better decisions later in life. However, if there is, somewhere, an incredibly smart person with an IQ of 180, they might look at your decisions and go, "yeah he's not smart enough to make informed decisions". So really only incredibly smart people can consent.
It's not just a question of pure intellect, you know, we've just set the bar where the average dumbass is. We can move it.Suppose that there are extremely intelligent aliens out there. Suppose, furthermore, that they would like to rid us of our ability to make decisions for ourselves, "for our own good," as they are far smarter than us and their passing "criterion" for making informed decision is far higher than we can even conceive. In that case, I would pull the speciesism card, and argue that they can not do that. And indeed, vice versa, when we meet aliens, we must not judge them by their intellect. The chimpanzees, also, may pull the speciesism card if we discriminate against them.As Jesus taught, "do unto others as you would like them to do to you."Similarly to how smart aliens should not discriminate against us, we should not be speciesist towards chimpanzees, our fellow neighbors.
I was sort of curious to know if you had an answer to this, TC, but I guess there's just too much to unpack here in this topic, with so many different threads and arguments.

I agree with you, I think you're right it was beneficial.
Btw, Lena, Natasha, are you two just upvoting all of each others' posts in every thread? Are you twins or something?

Chimpanzees that identify as humans are humans, first of all.
all non-human sentient life needs to be purged anyway. so if we elevate them to humans, they need to be wiped out
Why would you want to purge them?
That's a self-destructive philosophy, if you consider aliens, because we're saying it's fine for aliens who are capable of destroying us, to destroy us.
humans->destroy->apes OK if humans>apes
ergo
aliens->destroy->humans OK if aliens>humans
Such a un-vulcan thing to say.

Because aliens can destroy us, we must destroy them first.
When humans wage war with each other, the victor or survivors are always humans, but when a non-human enters the arena, it is possible that all humans will be gone. Why risk that? Because of empathy, we evolved towards humans to ensure our survival is being misused towards inhumans? No, it is best to destroy them all, just because of the possibility of them destroying us.
They are called "Human Rights" for a reason.
Daamn.
But wouldn't that give aliens the moral justification to kill us?
Only if they know before its too late.
If we were to all, instead, agree not to fight in interstellar space, then we'd all survive.
And you would trust them? Why? Fear? Do not fear the aliens. Be smart, no need to tell them we gona kill em.
Otherwise, there is only one survivor, and it's probably not us.
Def not with this attitude.

Spoken like a Mass Effect Renegade.
That game has some magnificent space racism in it if you avoid the altruistic route.
