Would you say that if we met an alien race vastly more intelligent than us, we should remove consent and choice from humans? That is, given that our understanding would be vastly inferior and thus, by their standard, we would be unable to consent.
If they were vastly more intelligent than us with developments that reflect that, we'd already be second class citizens to them.
Regardless of what I think, unless we're dealing with a District 9 situation then we're likely not the ones calling the shots.
I think we would. They would have to have adopted an agreement not to discriminate based on intellect, as it is beneficial for every race and alien to have made that agreement.
We've seen how well that worked out in Mass Effect, and Star Trek. 🤣
If that agreement was not made, it would be beneficial for only one alien race, the most intelligent one. And unless you know, for sure, that you are the most intelligent one, it's in your best interest not to discriminate based on intellect.
Why? We do it with our own already, why not outside of us?
What makes intelligence inherently altruistic? We might only think it's smart over being inherently tribal, they may not relate to such a thing if they are, for example, like The Buggers from Ender's Game.
You are basically a speciesist.
No matter how much I might be cool with aliens, I wouldn't be able to argue too much against the history being made.
If they for instance were all born with the capacity to manipulate metal like Magneto, what could we even do? If by contrast they came here and proved to be easily overpowered by other humans, even with us sympathizing for the aliens what could we really do about it?
