Gender vs. Sex
Biological sex is perhaps the most straightforward of the three variables at the heart of the science of transsexuality. We all have a set of sex chromosomes that identifies each of us either as a genetic male (XY) or as a genetic female (XX). Of course, as we learned from the case of Olympic runner Caster Semenya, a woman rumored to have a genetic abnormality that gave her body malelike strength, chromosomal sex is not always so obvious. There are many genetic disorders in which sex chromosomes are either missing or redundant (for example, XYY), and birth defects can occur in which infants are born with ambiguous genitalia. But in general, researchers who study gender identity disorder—the clinical term for what we colloquially know as transsexuality—exclude individuals with underlying chromosomal or somatic abnormalities such as the one rumored to affect Semenya.

Are you speaking of what was left out... the omitted absent studies? Yes... that can be read in many ways... I chose this mostly because of Dani's perspective of no necessary need for gender... perhaps not now... perhaps... leaving out adolescent studies under 17 could be largely due to the time of the study and the "blurred lines" already skewing gender for the period... to which I somewhat can agree... it could be omitted for reasons considering adolescence as too premature in the process of true gender determination... of which I disagree... what did it tell you?

I see what and sort of why you say this... but no... I did not get that... I got they are promoting the research into what develops gender based mentality through a wide spectrum of analysis... I did not get that there was a push for any sort of gender based agenda...

Let us go back... WAY back to cave man era... for the survival of this pathetic monkey race called human... certain jobs fell to women and others to men... made sense as hunter gathers... child bearing and rearing left the woman at the cave making sure junior survives and learns to contribute (big job)... man goes and gets food so ALL can survive (big job)... everything was equal... humans become agriculturalist and things do not change much... enter the industrial revolution, big manufacturing production plants and the NEED for a LARGER work force... gender becomes obsolete...
I do not disagree that the concept of gender for today's time can be seen as antiquated... ludicrous for me is a bit much... I don't think the National Center for Biotechnical information is pushing a gender based agenda... I think they are trying to figure this problem out and assist in a peaceful transition... my take...

Um... gender may BE bullshit to you, but it plays a very real role in life as it has become known to this point... do you see "gender" as something put on the masses? I see it as a by product of how our society has evolved... completely psychological... obsolete?... yes... most jobs/titles/practices/hobbies can be performed and well done by either sex... but for the record... this is me...
