Whereabouts in your body do you feel emotion?

Not weird, sounds like a useful exercise in self-awareness.

I feel emotions in my mind, and sensations thereafter in my body :)

Do you not know how you feel yours?

^Yes.

I totally forgot about this bc I can't relate to it myself. But yes the tradition exists and yes it is valid for some people.

In a nutshell, crappy self-deprecating feelings can lead to cringing/ wincing/ warding off postures in people who have been around verbally or physically abusive people their entire lives.

Defensive/aggressive tension collects in certain places and causes aches in various parts of the body, according to these new age traditions.

Meditation and reflection on positive self-talk, while saying some mantra and touching the tense spot is supposed to help the patient forgive and release w/e harm was done to them.

That's how it's supposed to work, anyway. It's not really my thing, either.

One minute you're onto something, then it's ruined by that half baked bullshit text I put in bold. Other than that, I've been exposed to various types of abuse for a good part of my life.

This condition is called Psychogenic pain. Some medical agencies pass it off as a myth because they cannot detect it, while other medical facilities take it seriously.

The psychogenic diagnosis

"How can you distinguish psychogenic symptoms from organic ones, which have explainable physical causes?

One possible sign is the sudden onset and sudden resolution of symptoms, says Dr. Robert Chen, a professor of neurology at the University of Toronto. The symptoms may also be incongruent; for instance, patients may experience sensory problems that do not fit with known nerve distribution.

Dr. Anthony Lang, director of the division of neurology at U of T, says specialists can also conduct specific tests. For example, when asked to perform certain complex tasks, patients may experience a change in the frequency of their tremors, whereas individuals with organic illnesses, such as Parkinson’s disease, exhibit no change."

doesnt all pain have a psychogenic component? how would you distinguish between something truely inorganic vs. for eg. when people describe physical pain at greif?

coz ive heard of the grief pain, but then i also know of psychogenic pain in response to a stimulus that reminds someone of something traumatic. one is arguabley "normal", the other is most likely disordered. and that being said, isnt the experience of pain purely psychological? i know the nerve feedback might be organic, but the actual experince is an individual, psychological phenomenon. which is why we can both get punched in the face with the same force and feel it differently

not actually sure what my question is other than, in a seinfeld voice, what's up with that?

The body reacts to emotions, the most profound ones I find is linked to negativity, and it's painful.

Maybe for 10 years now, I have a tense muscle next to my shoulder blade, it's much better now but it reacts under emotional irritability.

It's a known fact that a change of mood will transform the body's pulse.

If I become upset in anyway, be it anger or sadness, the knot in my back will become extremely firm. I mean cock hard stone, meanwhile I am relaxing. The muscle is totally on it's own. My attitude will be that of a man suppressing rage, while the knot intensifies into what must be nerve damage in and around that area, cause the pain passes through to my chest.

In the heat of the moment I'll tolerate the pain before moving onto self chiropractic methods, the most effective being using a cylinder (aerosol can) and laying on it. I can then grind the stressed muscle. It'll flick side to side and it begins to tenderize, thus granting relief.

If it happens while I have no access to my bed and the cylindrical object, I'll grind the inside of my shoulder blade on the corner of a wall, or a pole, or anything I can lean on, but this method is inferior to the bed trick, which can be done with a tennis ball, but the inflexible cylinder rules.

The pain instantly becomes the priority. Which is actually nice when I think about it cause when I treat the tension the stress magically goes away, and letting go of stupid shit that literally kills me, is so easy.

For you Freyja,  you don't have a focused physical outlet for irritated emotion as profound as mine. If you did, that therapist wouldn't have you searching for one. Some say eyebrows, and it annoys me when people take the initiative to employ that method on me, when clearly it's my back, so from my perspective it's fine if you scoff at the idea of searching for a point when it's not anywhere to be found.

Again, I suppress rage, not because I'm spineless, but because enraged actions seem immature and spoiled to me, so I resist being like... well... Some of you when enraged.

On that note, my emotional build ups, as it is for anyone will make the blood rush with adrenaline, in turn my stress levels has a low ventilation due to my choice to stay cool when my body goes into kill mode. This practice without a doubt has created my knot, bridging the intangible thought process (emotion) to the physical. Oh how pushing back not only eases the pain,  but it magically provides the return one would desire when achieving their goals after going ape shit on who or whatever pissed them off.

This may sound like too obvious a solution space, but have you tried seeing a physio about your shoulder? Or going for a massage?

I actually feel motion-sickness type nausea in my vagina. I thought this was normal because my sister does as well, but I spoke to a friend about it and apparently it isn't.
