Is that how you blow off being wrong? :D C'mon, take the loss like a champ ; )
"In my eyes, it can be viewed as insurance. Our government could never oppose the will of the common people directly, the second amendment assures that."
Your government also has nuclear weapons. You should amend the second amendment to allow private citizens to store atomic bombs in their garages. As insurance.
Edward. The suggested gun laws in the US is not primarily a matter of the law being broken, it's a matter of balance.
When people have weapons to defend themselves, they'll less likely to be attacked or invaded.
You were told that in the states that impose the most strict gun regulations, are the ones that endure the most gun related crimes. This is a result of imbalance.
Armed robbery happens when the armed robber is convinced they are at an advantage, and when society is comprised of a majority of unarmed people, the ones with the guns will take advantage of the situation.
There is no such thing as the gun magnet, that will take away all the guns and ammo across the globe.
I looked for a link between US criminality and gun control, and came across this stuff. I guess it's relevant since you've basically been repeating what Sarah Palin and the likes said in their campaigns. "Don't make laws because bad people will break them anyway" XD
My point was that weaponry and war have evolved since the 19th century, which is why it's natural for laws to evolve as well.
I also don't really see the need for an armed citizenry in a mature democracy like the US. No one's going to invade and occupy you and no one's going to declare themselves dictator for life. It's just too far-fetched.
We've had two. Both were particularly bloody and still fresh in the minds of most Americans. Don't condemn my country from learning from past mistakes.
Haha "particularly bloody and fresh in the minds". You've had almost no war bloodshed on US territory since the Civil War (exception that Pearl Harbor instigation), despite the fact that you've been always engaged in wars. Other countries suffered way more from wars.
This is so absurd to me, the reason of gun fetishism being fear of the government... Why the fuck would the government engage in bloody civil war when they can manipulate you like shepherds or nuke any rebellion.
Crow, what American here bought a gun thinking of the government while doing it? Syst just said he has his rifle in order not to lose a learned skill, which is a decent enough explanation. I doubt you ever bought one...
