I'm hardly forced to live on the money I get, which by the way, isn't too bad here in Aus (we get paid more here). I'm quite capable of finding another job if I wanted to, but I choose not to because I like my freedom too much and the money I'm getting hasn't been an issue.

The last job I had, I held for seven months and only stopped working that one because I quit in order to move. Mind you, I only had to work with one other person who I got on quite well with. I did lose every other job prior to that one, but that's mainly because I didn't like the work, and therefore, didn't put the effort in. The other reasons were due to irresponsibility.
I don't think I'm as irresponsible now as I was back then. Then again, I don't know, maybe I am, but I still think that if I found a job I actually enjoyed I could hold it down easily enough.

I've known a few guys who've been to prison and they weren't always in there fighting and stabbing each other. In fact, some of them didn't even mind being in prison that much. One of them (the brother of one of my ex's) even told me he was considering committing armed robbery so he could go back in. He got on well with some of the other inmates and had gained a reputation in there (and I don't mean as a prison bitch cause he certainly would never have been that).

I know 3 individuals that were in the state penitentiary but then again those are American prisons, which are regarded as some of the worst in the world. Australian prisons must not be too bad if you have soft convicts coming out that fall for heartwarming punchlines taken straight out of post card.
