Lying is the easiest and the most petty form of manipulation.  If you have to stoop that low, odds are you have no self worth or/and very desperate.

There are many more effective ways to get what you want without contradicting your own beliefs and fabricating stories. 

Children are notorious for lying, because to them even that form of manipulation is obtainable.  If a mature sociopath has to still use those methods it shows either they simply have no pride or they can't risk their object of intrest and are using a safe dependable method to acquire it.

It has absolutely nothing to do with self-worth. And the only reason it could be seen as desperation by some is if you're trying to avoid trouble, which in my opinion, is understandable. Most people will lie to save their own ass.

Sociopaths are liars. Do you honestly believe they're all desperate and have no self worth? Seriously...

 There are times it definitely is about self worth. When it's done for the purpose of making ourselves look better, it's about self worth. 

That's true I suppose. Though, you can lie to make yourself look better for the sole purpose of blending in, which has nothing to do with self worth.

 I agree with this also. That's why for me I stated every reason in the book is going to apply to me.

There are many more effective ways to get what you want without contradicting your own beliefs and fabricating stories.

Fabricating stories can be fun sometimes and I know I don't contradict my own beliefs when I lie because I believe everyone lies anyway, so technically, there is never any contradiction.

You can't tell me you never lie or would never lie.

What if you were caught by the cops and the only way to avoid prison would be to lie about what happened. Are you telling me you would simply confess and that's that?

To the sociopaths who haven't honed their manipulation tactics past that of a child's,  yes. 

I understand lying is your bread and butter, but I find it outdated. If you choose to carry yourself around using these transparent, stone age tactics then I suggest you up your game.
