 Oh yes, my little pepsimilian, everyone is capable of manipulation/control, especialy in relationships, and yes people do that. Taking your words, do you consider sociopathic people outsiders (not normal) and empaths, the majority as 'normal'? Stop being insulting. Your view of the world that people usualy tell the truth is scary, because they really don't, people lie all the time. Learn body language and body expressions, you'll be surprised how many lies fly by without you knowing.
