I never played much MGS but Raiden is iconic and not including him would have been a mistake imo.

I think because I like Raiden so much, I skipped over this point. He did add a new dynamic, and people enjoyed him even if they weren't as into him as more hardcore Raiden fans. Spatial could have been thinking of Snake Tales in MGS2: Substance, where you can play as Snake in the alternate scenarios, and it wasn't only available on Xbox, it only took a year to come out on Playstation and PC. There is no version where you can replace Raiden with Snake unless you use mods and Raiden doesn't "play just like Snake."

I played Skyrim on legendary difficulty. I leveled up to 70 but I reinstalled Windows and forgot to save the save files for the game. Starting over was hard, and I was also disappointed with the dragon battles. The dragons in Skyrim are really dumb.

Yeah, I'd probably use mods to make the dragons harder. I haven't really been playing Bethesda stuff recently, mostly just casual games and messing around in Blender. I feel like videogames and modding haven't been as fun for a while now since it can be difficult to make everything work, especially with how old Skyrim is and how much it needs to look or play better. The options for fixing everything up while still adding fun mods can be pretty limited.

A hacker that goes by the alias Cyberleek hacked Take-Two Interactive and got away with a playable copy of GTA 6.

From what I gather it's the PC version which isn't even announced yet, and would come out when sales start to slow down on the home consoles.  in 12 months to many years.

2 billion dollar hack.

The game is set to be showcased on Netflix, I forget when. Soon. But if you know where to look, sooner, and I mean game capture footage from Cyberleek, which I must admit, it's very difficult to find considering this game has a lot of fake Ai videos out there.

Now if the game itself gets leaked. I'm afraid I'm going to have to......... *Slowly turns head to face you*........ Validate the package to ensure that really happened, so you won't have to.

Don't worry about me, if that happens, for safety it'll just install windows on a 128GB SSD I have laying around and let it rip, just in case the package is infected, and it probably would be IF the hacker throws it out there. I doubt it though. He'd be in a world of shit, plus I'm hearing they got the guy.

Actually. Now that I think about it.

I don't quite buy it, no pun intended. But I cannot find any footage of this game. Just rumors. Content creators are passing around rumors cause it's been a hot topic for a few days it seems, and they vaguely  describe the same details from what's supposed to be a 9 minute capture.

Another content creator was saying how underwhelming the game looks, but I find a lot of these content creators and fake leaked videos are using GTA V footage.

- Netflix is going to Showcase GTA VI on August 27th.

- This game was delayed twice already. I heard once it was delayed  in 2020 and 2023  but I cannot confirm those dates anymore.

The timing of this "hack" is also perfect. It happened a few days ago, I just learned about it now, people have been talking about it for days, and people have 6 more days to hear about this, before Netflix showcases it for the first time.

It's possible all of this is marketing brilliance. It's too perfect.  of all these years and time it took to make, this happens before the big unveiling.

Raiden betrayed the series, they wanted Snake.

It's why MGS3 joked about it by having him land wearing a Raiden mask.

Steam sales get me every time.

The general market is poor, not a crime to follow trends.

That's incorrect. I didn't want Snake, not everyone wanted Snake each time and you get to play as him for most games.

Exceptions tend to exist for every rule.

Raiden's a little VR drone that was meant to poke fun at pseudo-badasses who get all their training from videogames. Snake constantly points it out, and by the end of his journey the guy basically became a shitty imitation of Gray Fox. They even made a point of hiring a voice actor that sounds whiny.

Snake meanwhile is a verified badass who talks like he's from an action movie, and his cardboard box strat is super meme-y. Even Old Snake is a hundred times cooler than Raiden and that dude is slowing down hard by that point of his career. Even Venom Snake is cooler than Raiden, even Liquid Snake is cooler than Raiden, Raiden was written to purposefully be uncool.

When Snake is asked if he's smoking, it's about how good it tastes. When Raiden is asked if he's smoking, it's him talking about the struggle of addiction as Rose tears him a new asshole about his history trying and failing to quit. There's a natural gruff humor to Snake that gives those he talks to on the Codec a lot of ground to talk, while Raiden always feels like he needs reassurance even moreso than Otacon.

Heh. I had to go see that for myself. Never played MGS3.

As for Raiden. He's iconic as a meme.

Lately I've been thinking of Little Big Planet. That game used to be my happy place. I liked the whole create and share mechanic. Build machines, make movies and music, the physics. Some people made impressive things with the tools that shocked even the developers. Masterpiece of a game.

That trailer is 20 years old, and this title still looks better than most games today. That's the definition of talent on hardware.

Little Big Planet got cancelled. The server got hacked and the hackers ruined the game so they shut it down killing online game play entirely. Sad.

Then I learned someone archived over 10 million levels and there's a way to access them on PS3 emulation.

Well. I think I'm going to run LBP on my PC and I'm going to get my levels back. When I see my friend next time I'm bringing a USB and I'm going to get my save data too just so I can have all the shit I ever made with this. I don't want the PS3 back just the data.

I could get Metal Gear 3 but, I think I'll get bored. I'd rather toy around with creative software like LBP

EDIT: I forgot to mention, what's going on in that trailer. In 3D software we do not simply stick images on a surface, we need to pull a UV map from the mesh and photoshop that shit on, meanwhile this game, lets people draw shapes and poof them into existence, and slap images on the surface. That alone is still insane by today\s standards in my opinion.

Calling Raiden's popularity an "exception" is already misleading. Plenty of people liked Raiden, and he became an independently recognizable character rather than merely an unwanted Snake substitute.

The rest of your description is also heavily loaded toward interpreting everything about Raiden negatively. "VR drone," "whiny," "needs reassurance," and "shitty imitation of Gray Fox" aren't objective descriptions of what MGS2 is doing. A major part of Raiden's story is that he doubts himself and gradually gains confidence in being himself rather than trying to become Snake. Even if he's emotional or whiny at times, that's not inherently bad writing. It creates conflict and gives the character room to develop.

The "VR drone" thing is especially backwards if it's being used to say Raiden simply failed to become a real soldier. His VR background is part of the story's point about identity and constructed experience. Whether he's a VR-trained soldier or eventually a full cyborg doesn't mean he's supposed to be a failed copy of somebody else.

And Spatial calling him "iconic as a meme" is funny in this context because Snake himself is extremely memetic. The series even explicitly plays with the concept of memes as a form of inherited information and expression. Being a meme doesn't establish that Raiden is inferior. If anything, Raiden becoming recognizable in his own right undermines the idea that he was merely some failed Snake replacement.

So I think the problem is the same one I've been pointing out. You're starting with a negative judgment of Raiden and then interpreting every trait through that lens. I don't think Raiden being emotional, insecure, or awkward proves he's weak or poorly written. Those traits are part of why his character actually has an arc.

That Raiden in your avatar. I don't know that guy. Don't know what happened to him but I hear he's a cyborg now.

His game isn't Metal Gear it's branded. Kojima never directed it. Platinum games created it. Metal Gear isn't a hack and slash, it's always been sneaking around in a covert mission and taking out the bad guys systematically. Sold 2 million copies... nearly a decade later they made memes of Raiden and the game became trendy and sold 4 million more.

Memes are a good thing. People like the game, and the character resonates with them, that's okay. I don't particularly hate Raiden, I pity what happened to him, like he's a damn cyborg now, and he's much colder according to this combo footage I'm seeing.

One of my favorite games. Ninja Gaiden series. I bought them all, even the unreal engine port of Ninja Gaiden II. except the latests one I wasn't feeling it.

People HATE Ninja Gaiden and barely anyone plays it due to its difficulty. I don't feel any need to defend it. Maybe it's pride. Ninja Gaiden is only for those who can wield it.
