Only ones I really used seriously were Taki and Siegfred.

For Taki my weapon of choice is the Kris Naga. In SCII this thing not only did serious damage, but when charging it, it healed health. This weapon went on to be the best one for Taki in all the series from what I'm reading here. I still used it in SCIV.

Taki's reach is better than it appears. She uses 2 short swords but her attacks are one handed with extended arms, or she would attack while moving forward.  Regardless of blocking or taking damage from Taki, she will be in close range. The Kris Naga was also pretty damn long for short swords.

Soul Calibur has a way of doing fake outs, and when we respond to fakeouts we literally see we've made a mistake and about to get a beating, and that's all we can process while having a chance to correct the error. In short the fakeouts made the player feel mentally stunned, like the brain is busy doing something else, and we can't react to the opponent slow charging a powerful combo opener.

Doing combos is easy, but advanced combos was too hard in SCIV.

When they said Taki is being removed from Soul Calibur 5, I was done with it even more. I predicted they'd bring her back and they did in SC6. I just looked at it and SC6 is so much faster, it makes me wonder if it's even playable as defending oneself in Soul Calibur was a bit of a rock paper scissor game between highs and lows, as were fakeouts.

Haven't played it in a very long time, and I don't know if I'll play again. Fighting games are only fun when we have people to play against.

I don't like Grand Theft Auto, and I don't plan on getting 6 either, but I won't entirely ignore it, and here's why.

- Massive budget. While I can't find a clear answer, GTA 6 production cost is between 1.5 to 2 billion. 3 billion is being thrown around, but at 1.5 billion alone, this makes it the most expensive game to develop in history, so it's the first billion dollar game by development. This will be by far the most advanced game ever made. Pretty sure this game had custom tools made just to achieve what sets it apart from other titles.  Scoffers will scoff, but I for one would like to see what a billion dollar production games looks like in the modern world.

- NPC's will be powered by Ai....  They're going to be simulated people we can have conversations with ? This is actually dangerous, we're going to hear stories of gamers falling for NPC's and trippin out cause something terrible happened to their dear NPC bot. Maybe they won't even be called NPC's but AiC's. Rockstar is going to have to do something about that cause if this is open world and someone sees someone hanging out with an NPC, that NPC is going to get shot by someone trying to piss people off.

- Graphics.... I know.... They say it's not about graphics. Well. This time it is, isn't it.

GTA 6 is going to kill GTA 5. The online versions of GTA will become a ghost town. Permanently. For those remaining, RockStar, if they are like EA, will pull the plug on server support.

Again, I don't like GTA, but the above video has astonished me as a professional. The large crowds, the colours in the sky, the lighting. That part with the police cars, I seriously had a moment. I imagine 1 person will never make something like this in a lifetime. However, I think in 4-5 years, people will actually direct their own triple A games with Ai coders and with little effort make something with as much emotion as what RockStar has done with all that money.

I don't think the graphics are gonna be as good as character focused games like the Final Fantasy 7 remakes. GTA V was fun in 2013.

I'm tired of Final Fantasy 7. The remake came so late I was already sick of it. It's why I got a PlayStation in 1997.

That day I got the system and the game. In EB games I fell short and couldn't afford both the game and the console. I negotiated as hard as I could, dude was like nope, sorry. So I settled for just the console which came with a bunch of demo discs, plus I had a pile of demo discs we got from gaming magazines.

Walked out the store, my friend grabs me and he's like let's go go go.

We go out in the parking lot, and in the bag with the console was Final Fantasy 7. The guy at EB forgot to pull it from the bag. Looked to the East and there was a blood moon or some sort, I was afraid. I took it anyway. Resolved it 2 weeks later, but I got my Final Fantasy 7 with the console and I got a FF7 T shirt.

Sony did not disappoint with the first PlayStation. We did not think the 32 Bit PS would beat the 64 bit N64 which isn't all that great of a system. But it did.

Popped in the a demo disc, and I saw, Metal Gear Solid. Hey. I know Metal Gear from the 80's on Nintendo, let's check it out.  This shit was next level and the first time I ever seen a game so cinematic. And it had talking.

.

.

.

PS2 comes out. Instant own. Metal Gear Solid 2 trailer at E3. Massive. Still a nice trailer to this day. I'm all yeah, I'm gonna be Snake again, with better graphics and some new tricks.

Game comes out. Beat the first stage. Then.... I had to play as that Bitch Raven. I'm thinkin okay anytime now, back to Snake. Nope. On the PlayStation II, MGS2 at the time was exclusive, and we had to play as that bitch ass Raven through the whole game. Then Konomi releases Metal Gear 2 for Xbox, and on that version they got to play as Snake through the whole game.

That was my last Metal Gear. I see in the newer ones they try to Make Raven this cool mech ninja cyborg guy. Don't know what happened to him and don't care. None of the OG's like him.

Steam sales get me every time.  Picked up the Spider-Man games -- on sale, of course, because the movie (probably).  I can't avoid 60% off or whatever, man.  It's almost a crime not to grab it, especially if it's on your wishlist.  The summer sale got me with quite a few other ones there.  My list keeps getting bigger and probably never complete all of this in my lifetime now.

Recently finished Vampire Crawlers -- 100%-ed it.  I haven't played too much of anything otherwise.  My standing rotation of games I will go back to and play for various reasons: Guild Wars 2, Tekken 8, Path of Exile 2.  And in any remaining space, I usually fill in with an RPG with longplay value and story, etc.  Currently that slot is filled with Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader.  I'm enjoying getting into the story and lore and grim-dark brutality of it.  Oh, It Takes Two is actually a pretty good game (if you got someone to play with).

Raiden* is way more attractive to me than mullet dude Snake. You can't confirm that "none of the OG's like him." There probably are "OG's" that do like him. I could hardly play Delta unless I had the Raikov mask on but still refunded it.

Well that's faggotry and most people aren't faggots. It's not about sexual attraction. Plus you're a noob and never lived through it.

Metal Gear Solid was hot. The sequel comes out, with the most anticipated game on history at the time. Snake is back, the trailer is lenghty and epic, reallt good new theme song, here we go.

After the first stage, we're stuck playing as a pretty boy. Like we're stoked about being Snake, but instead we're playing as a stranger.

Then... They release it on xbox and in that version they give the option to play as Snake.

Kojima. You ass. You shafted us, and after awhile released the better version on Xbox. In the middle of a vigorous console war.

Now the boy looks like a martial arts cyborg. Used to be more like Snake but now they really want him to be better. Kojimi learned Raiden should be nothing more than an option. It's a fourm of pride. Raiden is Kojima's wound. His error. Snake sells Raiden doesn't. He's even worse under Snake's shadow. Who cares if he can do the windmill as a cyborg.

MGS3. Never touched it.

MGS4. Never touched it. And look how old Snake is.

MGS5. Got it for it's visuals on PC. Couldn't play it.

Calling my preference inherently “faggotry” makes no sense. Finding a male character more attractive does not define someone’s sexuality or imply a desire for sex. Attraction can influence how people respond to characters consciously or subconsciously, just as familiarity and nostalgia can. You also cannot verify your claim about what “most people” are.

There is no objective “we” here, only separate brains reacting differently. You treated Raiden as an unwanted stranger because the marketing and opening section created an expectation of playing as Snake, then the switch produced a prediction error and violated that expectation. Others could experience the same change as a welcome change of pace. “Living through it” only means your brain encountered those stimuli during the original release context. My brain can still understand the stimuli and processes involved, just as I can understand why Psycho Mantis reading a memory card felt personally surprising without having experienced it at release. Firsthand nostalgia does not give your interpretation greater authority.

The rest is unsupported speculation. Raiden’s later redesign does not prove Kojima wanted him to surpass Snake, regarded him as a wound, or concluded he was a mistake. You are replacing “I disliked this” with “we were shafted,” then inventing motives for Kojima to make that reaction sound historical rather than personal.

Never said it was inherent, that's something you've added.

Finding a male character more attractive does not define someone’s sexuality or imply a desire for sex.

Well you do think Nightwing is hot. Raiden falls under similar category. And you're a homosexual.

Attraction can influence how people respond to characters consciously or subconsciously, just as familiarity and nostalgia can.

Do you know what happens when you tell a person you're attracted to them ? It isn't a platonic gesture, it's kinda asking for more.

You also cannot verify your claim about what “most people” are.

Of course I can. Most people are straight.

Snake is cool and all but I wouldn't say I'm attracted to the character.

Yada yada.

The backlash was public. When Metal Gear Solid II came out it was quite controversial because of Raiden.

Hideo Kojima's response was something along the lines of "It's my Metal Gear, I can ruin it if I want" So as you can see it's not just me making this up.

If someone anticipates and buys Batman, they should get Batman, not some weirdo inserting themselves into the basically the whole game except the first stage.

Metal Gear Solid II was my 4th Metal Gear game. Different than the 8 bit version, but it was still Snake. MGS2 The big one that shook the globe and changed gaming forever. The fans of this game were in the front row, buying the first release, and those are the people who got shafted, and if we wanted to experience the game as Snake, we'd have to buy an XboX and another copy of the game.

Like. They gave the best version of the game to people who never anticipated or wanted it the most.

PS2 = 7 million copies sold < The fans

XboX = 1.39 copies sold < Sure, some fans

PS2 is no and ifs or buts MGS2 is a first day buy and we found out Raiden was a thing at home. Dude, in those days the disappointment hit as hard as the hype, and hype was more potent back then compared to now. Today's hype doesn't slap.

The rest is unsupported speculation. Raiden’s later redesign does not prove Kojima wanted him to surpass Snake, regarded him as a wound, or concluded he was a mistake.  Kojima had some damage control to do.

One minute, Raiden is exactly like Snake. His late design is a complete overhaul and now he's a cyborg Samurai with a katana blade. I haven't played that game but I see Raiden. Looks like he can have a kung fu match with a super ninja and would decimate Snake in combat. ( Ryu Hayabusa would fuck him up )

Metal Gear is meant to be military spy navy seal shit.

In any case, it's not my Metal Gear anymore and hasn't been since I was like 23. I waited, watched the trailer again and again, showed it off, it was the talk of the town. After all that, I only had 1 playthrough.

Despite your opinion, my claims are supported.

You are combining several unrelated and unsupported claims. My sexuality has nothing to do with whether Raiden’s design belongs to some “homosexual category.” He is explicitly written as being in a relationship with Rose, and a gay man finding him attractive says nothing about the intended audience for the character. Calling a fictional character attractive is also not comparable to making an advance toward a real person. Substance did not replace Raiden with Snake in the full main story. It added separate Snake Tales and VR missions, and the expanded version also came to PS2. Your sales comparison proves even less. It does not identify who counted as a “real fan,” who felt betrayed, or why people bought either version.

Raiden’s later cyborg design does not prove the original character was a failure. It only proves that his design and role changed.

So your post does not support the broader claims you are making. It establishes that you disliked the protagonist switch and that other people complained about it. It does not establish your claims about homosexuality, the audience, the sales figures, the Xbox version, or the meaning of Raiden’s redesign.
