Pfft. I'm aware of all that.

But when tariffs go into effect, everybody everywhere starts jacking up prices on everything because they can. Whether they had to pay tariffs or not.

I was lucky enough to score some cheap coffee a few months back, but it won't last long. The next one I buy will be 35% more. Up to $25 from $16 for 930 g. Strawberries have gone from $2.99 (sometimes even $1.99 On sale) to $5.00/ lb. And I know for a fact that my " elbows up" strawberries were picked less than 10km from the store that was charging so much. I even tried the cheap, puny mangoes from Mexico and just GAH. I hope Mr Carney can hammer out some better deals with President Sheinbaum for us. I hate being deprived of my produce.

When I find my forever home, the $500 temu sofa bed I wanted will be at least $900.

Because at least half the products we buy come from the US, even if they're on a Chinese site.

It's a very difficult thing to boycott American grifters, man. The fuckers are everywhere. 😋

The 35% tariff is what US citizens pay for Canadian goods, except for minerals precious metals oil and some other exceptions. It does not affect US export into Canada.

Increased tariffs as you know incentivise consumers to buy the cheaper brands made at home. It also incentivises businesses to move to another country where they can avoid having to charge more for their product. The US has an advantage in that cause cause their market is 10 times larger than ours.  When a competitor has no choice but to sell at higher prices, it puts them at a disadvantage in an open market, and they'll certainly lose revenue in the grand scheme. It's more profitable to sell Honda Civics than it is to sell Bugatti's for obvious reasons.

Canada at first decided to retaliate but now pulled back, which is the right move, though it took our government MONTHS to see things my way. It's the smart move for the Canadian economy.

Rising costs are due to inflation, the dollar losing purchasing power, which is always happening, but the pandemic with it's 2 year lockdown in Canada really accelerated inflation. Lots of lost jobs, businesses shut down, business opportunity nearly ceased while others ceased. Oil crashed below 0, though it still had storage costs.

The CAD is currently $0.72 to the USD, which is a 2 cent improvement that's been there for a few months now. This improvement might not even be as it seems as the USD suffers from inflation too and loses value.

When the fiat dollar loses value, that's when we see price hikes.

The state of the Canadian Loonie is Trudeau's fault. He did a real number on our economy to a point where he made Stephen Harper into a legendary Prime Minister, as we did not suffer from the same issues we do now under Harper.

Canada's liberal government is anti Trump. They made that clear the first time, they made it clear they are fearful of another Trump term with Biden, then they got one and they wonder why US Canada relationships are rocky. This is the same government ( Trudeau Cabinet ) that fucked up Canada. The same government that grants subsidies to businesses that hire foreign students. This is why nearly all of out fast food chains are infested by coolies behind the counter, effectively turning the gen z's and other generations who work in lower paying jobs into 2nd class citizens.

Why would Tim and Ronald higher you Xena, when they can hire someone from another country and collect subsidies for it at scale. Like damn, our government is paying corporations to hire non landed immigrants over Canadians, while they go to school here on Student VISAs in droves preparing to enter the higher paying job market. This is replacement theory. Grooming newcomers to get landed here and vote Liberal.

If Canada came out and said this ends today, Canadians including yourself would rejoice. But it looks like you're so indoctrinated into those ideologies, when you see someone like Trump, doing what our government should be doing and putting its own people first, you'll be all "Oh fuck that guy, everything is his fault". And I say, damn. Trump put the Trudeau government on its toes and they started cleaning up their act before Trudeau got the boot,

My personal take on Mark Carney. I never voted for him. I don't like what's coming in 5 years, but for now he's doing a better job and if he can clean up Trudeau's mess he'll earn my respect and I'll even vote Liberal.

Ew. I wouldn't work a McJob anyway. The immigrants can have those jobs

As for the rest of that gish gallop, it's loaded with incorrect premise after incorrect premise, not the least of which being your belief that other immigrants have less right to be here than you do.

And Trudeau lol All the incels hate him because he's so good looking.

Anyhoo, I have things to do today. I'll come back and unpack your PP inspired mess when I have time.

But yeah, Carney is doing a good job so far.

He's the most conservative Liberal I've ever seen, but he's what we need to deal with Project 2025.

I don't normally trust bankers in politics, and I hate Big Oil. But if we have to go to war, the environment will be fucked anyway. Ive always found it's best to beat the crap out of would be bullies when the first round of negotiations fail. It's best to just get it over with, because bullies, like terrorists have no interest in compromise.

I know people who've been deported. It wasn't my call nor did I wish for it. My parents migrated here, and they did it legally.

Mass immigration fucked Canada. We have housing issues, and the crime now, this is not the Toronto I once knew.

The amount of Student VISAs Canada handed out to India is unheard of, Canadian Gen Z's cannot find work. This is what it looks like applying for work in Brampton.

Before Trudeau took the boot, he reversed his policies on handing out VISA's like it's nothing after finding out the hard way. Even Indians say Indian mass migration will destroy Canada.

There are reasons why entry was always a process.

Yes he's nice looking from what I gather. It was never enough though was it.

Simply put, the increased Tariffs decreases Canada to US sales due to price hikes, it impacts US citizens who buy Canadian products. If Prices on US goods goes up over tariffs, it would be because of our own government.

Trump thinks it's unfair that Canada makes more money in trade than the US, but it's only normal. We couldn't possibly consume as much as the US since they're 10 times more populated than Canada.

Project 2025 is a buzz phrase created by left wing political media to invoke fear in voters. You only ever heard about Project 2025 from leftists who hate Trump. They did a real number on you, There really is no such thing as Project 2025, it's literally an invention to steer voters. I'm surprised people still go along with it, Xena.

What Trump would like to do is shrink the US government, and eliminate income taxes for US citizens all together, the US government will then get all of it's funding from Tariffs like how it used to be.

After a rocky start, Carney at the moment has improved. It was a mistake to run on "We'll defeat Trump" and now there's a lot of undone work to do that might never get done.

By 2030, Carney wants all cars on the road to be electric. Despite being very good at producing electricity, we don't have the infrastructure to power 26 million vehicles everyday. This will in effect drive the price of lithium through the roof so in advance Canadians better start saving what they can if they want to have a vehicle in the near future. Electric cars are already expensive.

 Thank you, Xadem.

You can Google the entire text of the bill if you're so inclined.

I tried to find a link to post, but my stupid device downloaded the whole thing lol.

Again, I'm too busy for this.

Gotta go...

Curse you Xadem !

.

Now that we're talking about Project 2025 again, my memory is refreshed after looking into it. Here's the first time we talked about it. We wrote about it again elsewhere where I pointed out the Heritage Foundation is simply a think tank comprised of multiple conservative groups.

There I pointed out project2025 denying all of the claims the MSM had to say about it.

Back then we found a lot of what the MSM had to say about Project2025 isn't true. What they got right was how project2025 would end up on Trump's desk, probably cause 200 of his employees are a part of the Heritage Foundation.

With that I'll ask, what's so fearful about Project 2025 ?

You posted the tweets in reverse.

Just because someone is running as a Republican, doesn't mean they're part of the Heritage Foundation. Out of 318 suggestions, I'm assuming Trump will probably implement some, as Trump's plan is to shrink the US government by gutting it of corruption and wasteful spending.

What do you think of this:

https://www.project2025.observer/en/visualize/charts

?

According to it, 37% of Project 2025 objectives are completed, 21% in progress, and 42% not started.

Assuming that's correct, would you say that 58% of Project 2025 (and counting) qualifies as "some"?
