There's undeniable evidence for anyone who wants to take a deep look that capitalism increases wealth. The freer the market, the more wealth is generated.
Neoliberal Capitalism increases the wealth of those who already have it. That much is true. Meanwhile the middle class in all western nations has been shrinking for decades.
It increases the total wealth, and yes, also the wealth of those who already have it.
However, the middle class is richer than previous decades—you can see this in CBO income data and real median personal income.
Americans' wealth has increased considerably in the past two decades.
Does capitalism drive income inequality? It does. It also drives innovation and makes countries wealthy.
Its really a pretty simple system. Do work that others pay you -> more work gets done -> more ways to create work.
Contrast this with a noncapitalistic system: Do work that does not benefit you -> less work gets done. There certainly are people who still work, not for the money, but for the principle. However, the system needs to find other ways to either intrinsically or extrinsically motivate people. In a capitalistic system, people with intrinsic and extrinsic motivation are selected for and promoted in the society.
The drawback is that pollution, social inequality, selfishness, and other less desirable traits are also be rewarded, which leads to problems.
Chicken. Said he who's afraid SC would ruin his life or something if he actually proved anything.
