Right off the bat the bitter orange is most potent, smells like spiced lemon. Its lemony and spicy and delicious. I can smell the cinnamon and sandalwood underneath citrus. It's like a lemon dessert bar.

After about 10 min, more of the sandalwood comes out.

Been about 20 min, enjoying the spiciness and woodyness of the cinnamon and Sandalwood. Vanilla and tonka bean create a warm blanket under them.

Been about an hour. God I love sandlewood. That is the predominant note with some cinnamon vanilla and tonka still laying low right underneath. This smells like tripping balls in a bikini and eating cookie dough at age 16. I smelled this perfume everyday for a period in my life and boy does it take me back. Lolita is a fitting name for my history with it.

Been about 90 minutes, sunk down to a comfortable vanilla sandalwood.
Smells like classy vintage perfume. Theres a warmness to it, incense-like base notes are there

Overall review: a perfect 10/10. Beyond even the nostalgia this scent is perfect. Perfect amount of spiciness, woodiness, and vanilla, with just the right amount of citrus top notes. I will be buying a full bottle of this to wear again, even though it is (like all my favorite perfumes) sadly discontinued. I've found a few supposed dupes of this that I intended to review later.

Valentino Voce Viva Eau de Parfum

First spray very floral, very fresh.
Smells expensive, and very bright.
Bergamot and gardenia detectable. Something in there that smells very unique, looking at the listed fragrance notes I believe it is the oak moss which they call Crystal Oak.

This is a very bright lively perfume, best for daytime. Smells like light reflections scattered through crystal.

Orange blossom slightly more detectable after 3 minutes.

After 5 min predominantly orange blossom and gardenia. Very crisp with some sweetness.

Maintains the predominant moss, orange blossom, gardenia ratio for slightly over an hour. Some vanilla base is working it's way through now

Not too much change with this one. What you get in the beginning seems to hold well over time.

About 2 hours now, I do notice less crisp-freshness now though. The scent has settled lightly into the vanilla base- not overwhelmingly sweet though. This somewhat reminds me of the black Opium nuit blanche and neon samples I tried- probably because of the predominant orange blossom.

As I've mentioned in previous reviews perfume's scent can vary as it plays with skin chemistry- the same perfume can smell completely different on 2 different people even. I tried this perfume for the first time 2 weeks ago and really enjoyed it- now I find myself rather disappointed. Perhaps because I showered today before applying. (I only shower about once a week these days- what with all the sitting indoors, and generally sitting in one spot all day I dont get very dirty or sweaty.)

Regardless, the difference I've noticed today has swayed me. Eventually after I've tested each of my perfumes I'll do a second round and add comments to any that smell different on the second go around.

As for Voce Viva itself, overall review: on the day 2 weeks ago when I first tried it I probably would have given it a 6 or 7. Today I am giving it a 5/10. I think I'll be steering clear of orange blossom from now on. I smell it and it reminds me all too much of Nuit Blanche. The initial citrus top notes and the Gardenia middle notes were pleasant, but not enough to pull this above the middle of the scale. I liked it most at first until the other notes faded and left so much orange blossom behind. I would still possibly wear this again, to a fine day event such as a wedding (not my own though) or a brunch but not for daily wear, dates, or formal evening events.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum

First spray: for about 10 seconds this is AMAZING- PERFECT PERFUME. I can smell the sweet jasmine freesia and rose over patchouli and it's perfect. After about 10 seconds the african orange blossom hits and it's ruined. I cannot stand orange blossom anymore after the headaches Nuit Blanche and Neon gave me.

Trying to sniff past that the green tea top note is pleasant. I'm sneezing within 2 minutes so I'm guessing this has real rose absolute in it- and it sure better for that price tag!

It's a nice floral oriental. If it wasn't for the orange blossom this would be the perfect perfume in my opinion.

At three minutes I now predominantly smell the bergamot and green tea top notes, very lovely. The orange blossom isnt too overwhelming now. Light amounts of freesia and rose peak through the top notes.

After about 6 minutes the orchid starts coming out more, still complementing the top notes

The awful orange blossom aroma has either gone or its too covered by the other florals to detect. It's been 11 minutes now and it smells fantastic! The blend of rose, jasmine, and freesia is so lovely and the bergamot tea, musk, and patchouli blend in so beautifully

Been a lil over an hour. Smells like like coco Mademoiselle now. Still a nice sweet jasminey rosey floral. The patchouli and musk base notes are detectable and very nice.

90 minutes: the spiciness of the patchouli is coming out more now, also the warmness of the musk. still very floral though. It has a very pleasant oriental base. I like that this doesnt have vanilla base notes like many other floral orientals

Almost 2 hours, warm musky base with some lingering floral and patchouli

Overall review: 8/10 this fragrance is great and I would certainly wear it again but that bit of orange blossom at the beginning is fucking aweful and also I'm allergic to it so my eyes are watering and nose is running but yolo. I could imagine wearing this on the daily, for day occasions, and for evening occasions. A really great any-occassion perfume.

Would you say that the viktor one is heavy and deep, musky, Spicy, sweet, or light and floral

i prefer lighter perfumes as opposed to heavier darker or musky spicy

and if it is sweet is it too overpowering

Yves Saint Laurent Opium EDT (2009 reformulation)

Woody powdery and warm immediately
Smells like my grandma bit not in an "old people smell" kinda way. Like, she wears these perfume notes.

Predominantly I smell myrrh lily and jasmine and it is heavenly. This certainly captures the feeling of an oriental perfume. Slightly floral and spicy, and very balsamic.

I dont even know quiet how to describe this smell. It has so many notes I've never smelled before. I think this is honestly the first time I've smelled real myrrh and it's heavenly. So much nicer than the artificial fragrance oils and incenses that try to mimic it

Its... well like I said, woody, and powdery and spicy and warm. It smells like if every movie depicting ancient persia came to life. I can see why the 3 wise men would consider this a gift worthy for baby Jesus.

It's been about 15 minutes and It is changing slightly but I have no idea how to describe it still. Yall you really just got to try this. It's like it still smells balsamic and resinous but like a different resin is coming up. I believe what I've been smelling is the myrrh middle note and now the Opoponex and amber are coming up. I've never smelled Opoponex or real Amber before, but this doesnt smell anything like my synthetic Amber fragrance oils, it's much nicer.

Myrrh is one of the few old world fragrance favorites that is completely unrestricted by the IFRA, but that's no guarantee that Loreal didnt skimp on cost and use synthetic. (Loreal bought YSL in 2008 and in 2009 Opium was inexplicably reformulated.)

I am receiving a vintage bottle soon of the 1977 Opium formulation, complete with Sanofi Beaute lable and original bottle from before the company was bought by Yves Saint Laurent. I am eager to do a scent comparison between the old formula and new.

The warmth and spiciness of this scent I feel makes it a fall or winter scent, good for evening occasions and date nights, probably not for work although it could work for some types of day occasions. I wouldnt wear this to someone else's wedding for example, but I would wear it for say, my own wedding rehearsal dinner with family or that type of fine dining but not in a business or date context type event where it is appropriate to show off.

It's been a few hours now, the smell hasnt evolved much but has faded a lot. I'm not surprised as this is an Eau de Toilette and not a Parfum (only 10-15% fragrance oil dissolved in perfumer's alcohol, whereas Eau de parfum is 20-30% fragrance oil)

Overall reveiw: 10/10. This perfume is fantastic. Its spicey and unique and smells like ancient luxury. I want to smell this while laying on a pile of gold coins and draped in silk.

 Sugar and Spite Doppelganger

Right out the bottle smells like pumpkin creme brulee! Mmm, vanilla and pumpkin. Some floral top notes one I rubbed it between my wrists

Smells kinda powdery, very sweet and gourmand. A good one for spoopy season. Some spicyness coming through now, is that cinnamon or clove? Something eugenio. I think the powderyness is artificial jasmine or Sandalwood. The scent is morphing quickly with this one.

Less pumpkin vanilla more spicy powdery now. Smells like a Thanksgiving wreath

Drying down very powdery. Not smelling any pumpkin anymore. Eugenol and autumn florals scent now

It's been 40 minutes and this is giving me a headache now. Smells very different than it did out of bottle. Overpowering woody and spiciness. I bought this because the notes included pumpkin but they faded so fast and I'm not loving what I've been left with. I'm already going to call it: I would not wear this perfume again and I will be passing the rest of this dram off to a friend who isn't as sensitive to headache including fragrances as I am.

2/10 my olfactory sensors feel attacked. I am going to go wash this off and take an advil before I post this.

Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt

First spray kinda citrusy, immediately fades down to a sea spray type smell. I can smell the sage. Very lemony and fresh.
After 4 min, smells like fresh driftwood, I can smell the seaweed, lemon and salt mostly.

Been about 10 min, not much change in the scent. It is very one dimensional, no depth to it. What you smells at first is what you get. If anything the lemon is starting to fade some

It is a very light fresh fragrance, not sexy at all but pleasant. A kindergarten teacher could wear this to parent teacher meetings.

I'm pretty underwhelmed for all the hype tbh. For as much as I paid for this I really expected something more here.

50 minutes it is still pleasant, not anything amazing. Technically I think Jo malone Colognes are intended to be layered over other other perfumes to add notes, not worn alone. I would wear this again probably. It will never be my daily fragrance but I will save it for an occasion in the spring or summer when I want something very light and beachy/ fresh. I also want to try laying this with some things.

90 minutes: fading now, I've heard this one doesnt last beyond 2 hours. I give it a
5/10, middle of the scale, I dont love it dont hate it. Pretty neutral to it. I actually have a dupe of this I like more than the real thing, I'll make a comparison of them another time.

Overall reveiw: unimpressive but not unpleasant. Smells like morning seaspray and sage.
