I thought the "Good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun" thing was already debunked

Absolutely. It turns out that most of Wortman's victims either knew him, or were burned out of their houses and then shot, paramilitary style.

A gun likely wouldn't have saved any of them bc...

Wortman: knock knock hi diddley ho neighbour

Neighbour: Hi diddlereen… BANG and bleeds out.

Wortman: knock knock The RCMP are looking for a suspect. May we come in and talk to you?

Concerned citizen: Why, yes. Anything I can to to hel…. BANG and bleeds out

 lol sure.

Lemme write that so you do get my point, then.

Wortman: knock knock hi diddley doodley neighbourini

Neighbour: oh look it's my good friend so I'LL JUST LEAVE MY GUN OVER HERE ON THE KITCHEN TABLE WHERE IT WON'T LOOK THREATENING BC DUDE IS MY FRIEND I'VE KNOWN SINCE WE WENT TO HS TOGETHER 35 YEARS AGO AND WENT FISHING TOGETHER EVERY WEEKEND SINCE

BANG and neighbourini bleeds out

Hint: most people don't pull out their guns when their friends and neighbours come to visit.

So again, having a gun in a shoulder holster would not have saved any of those people bc they would not have pulled it on somebody they thought was a friend or a neighbour or a cop, anyway.

Also, the east coast is where the best fishing and hunting is. It would not surprise me if over half the dead folk did have guns in their homes.

right, its after the first shot and the first dead guy falls that someone gets a clue. they should then protect themselves with their firearm. after the "stay inside and keep your doors locked" warning goes out over the news, that's when you get your gun out.

of course a surprise attack by a neighbour would suck and you would likely die.

its a human right to be able to protect yourself, do you not agree?

BTW that last church shooting in the US was stopped by an armed citizen in the church

Smh. You still don't get it, dude.

You remind me of that episode of Star Trek where Mark Twain was arguing with Captain Picard about the economics of the future lol

Your understanding is light years behind ours.

We have the right to own guns up here. Most of us do own them.

However, to us they're not commodity fetish objects like they are in the US.

There is no debate bc they are a non issue. Like abortion and free healthcare.

We don't argue about ^^ any of the above bc we have all the choice in the world where those rights are concerned.

And again. Fewer guns, more guns or w/e would have made zero difference to Wortman's killing spree.

He was going door to door and setting fire to people's houses while they slept and shooting them before they even knew wtf was going on ffs

Even a trained soldier with a fucking Rambo belt would not have survived Wortman's rampage unless he had a crystal ball and the foresight to rig a suicide bomber vest to explode when the psycho shoots.

Have you ever had to escape a burning house that was lit up by an arsonist who has half a clue what he's doing?

You don't have time to go for a gun or anything else.

You have to get to the nearest exit as fast as possible and get the fuck out.

And that's all your mind is able to process while chunks of burning ceiling are falling down around your head.

Also, I hear well stocked armories will go off like popcorn when you set fire to them.

I learnt that I still don't care about statistical anomalies within a population unless an aesthetic worth paying attention to is involved.

this is just basic speculation, now, for my speculation...the guy was definitely a sneaky bastard, ill give him that, dressing up like a cop and driving a fake cop car, WTF.

but there were reports and complaints of gun fire, so, someone heard the shots. if you hear the shots and had time time call the police, then you have time to grab your gun. just sayin. guns are tools for protection. you Canadians should know this living around all those bears ;)

now you cant tell me if this guy had a gun, things could have turned out much different
