Meta must think that the average Jill thinks logically about a kid's potential when they see it getting hurt lmao. It's obvious an emotional reaction. We value kids more because of our emotions. We have those emotions because we need them to protect the future of our species.

Emotions have a logical explanation.
So all emotions and reactions based on emotions are logical then? I can see some logic behind me wanting to kill a man out of jealousy for example. It makes sense and the reason for that emotion's existence is logical from nature's perspective, but... is it really the logical thing to do?
I sort of figured that the female egg was more like well fertilized soil...
This debate would be easier to resolve if we could map the potential a human child actually has. Sure they could become the next president or scientific founder of a ground breaking theory, but what are those odds? Pretty fucking low. The "potential" argument is bunk once you stop looking at it as this mysterious series of what ifs and actually see how much potential likely isn't really there to begin with, both from it's initial potential as a seed and from the potential of the one growing it. It is emotional hype we're hardwired to follow from how magical childhood tends to feel for people and from a protective instinct of the species to keep ourselves going, and (likely) not much more.
gonna quote myself from skype:
"But a child has the potential to be a surgeon or a genius. While an average adult who lives shows that he doesn't have those abilities.
Of course the average child has a very small % to be such a great person. However the value of this small % is very very high, because one genius can change the world forever.
And as you grow you show your true self and this % to be a genius gets smaller and smaller, which makes your potential value smaller and smaller.
even 1% has a great value
and if we say that 0.1% is like idk 100000 value, then as you grow and you lose 0.1% potential to be a genius, your value drops a lot."

Not everything that has a logical explanation is logical, read my example. I can see why Turncoat is your favorite person to talk to here. You completely lost sight of the issue at hand.
Not everything that has a logical explanation is logical, thats true. I am not sure why you think i think so?
However it is logical to care for children more then to care for adults.
Your example is illogical...
