is intelligence a social construct?

Daniella stated: source post

is there a widely agreed upon scientific universal definition for intelligence? i know there's the IQ, but i heard it only tests 3 types of known forms of intellect. there has to be more. can anyone bring up a full proof definition?

if not, then it's just a construct. or subjective from person to person with maybe a few  universal consistencies, kinda like beauty.

It's one hell of a leap to go from "We can't define intelligence" to "So that means it doesn't exist". =/

Science doesn't have all the answers, good thing for us reality doesn't require scientific validation. Intelligence is a thing, likely it's a freak of nature that stuck because it made fucking easier, but it DOES exist, regardless of what science understands about it.

Intelligence exists, go spend time with a group of unintelligent people (note: unintelligent and mentally disabled are similar but different) and you'll have all the anecdotal evidence you require to be convinced of that. I suggest zealous religious organizations as a good place to find a large pool to interact with.

If you think intelligence doesn't exist, I suggest you go volunteer at some facility that houses retards and such as a reminder of what a human looks like without it.

You don't have to go to a facility to view the mentally deficient; your local Walmart will do. It would make sense that intelligence is genetic and is part of natural selection however, it baffles me how the lesser intelligent always seem to be breeding machines.

a lot of people ignored this part it seems. what's so wrong with the idea of it being subjective?

It is most definitely possible to divide consciousness and intelligence. There are some babies born with ancephaly, they are conscious, but they are missing majority of their brain.

Fact remains there are no examples of intelligence without consciousness.

Animals are conscious, but not intelligent.

If animals lacked any degree of intelligence, they would be unable to be trained. Yet we've trained just about every single one.

Drug addicts are conscious, but mind altering substances can quickly affect their level intellect as well as their decision making processes. They're still aware of what they're doing but their ability to think is hindered.

None the less, they still have intellect.

Most definately separable concepts. If they weren't then why do two words exist to define the same thing?

No matter what disabled subjects you present, there's still no example of intelligence without consciousness.

Conciousness came before intelligence of you believe in evolution. If you believe in Adam and Eve then you're just fucking stupid.

Before creation, there was an intelligent consciousness. Darwin, the one who came up with the theory of evolution was a theist. The theory of evolution, is also an unproven theory, since it's been proven impossible to recreate to conditions for amino acids to reproduce as the theory suggests. There are also no findings of the missing links between us, and those old monkey bones.

When it comes to Adam and Eve, well, there are billions of us and counting. How many did we start with ? By evolution's theory some creature would have had to rise and grow from bacteria,  before mating with another creature that magically mutated into the compatible opposite sex, before giving birth for the first time.

It was written that God formed Adam out of dust, before breathing life into him. Modern science finds that we are made up of star dust, and when the physical body dies, it will decompose back to dust.

It makes more sense to me that the chicken came before the egg, as all creatures came before their way of reproducing.

There are primitive societies that existed, and they were not yet humans. They were neanderthals. Conscious, but stupid.

I wouldn't pass them off as stupid, they had incredible survival skills. If any of us were in their situation, it's unlikely we would have done any better and we'd be quick to adopt what we can learn from them.

C'est, I don't know if Semiotics is a popular field (discourse) anymore but the gobbledygook I just read makes me think you would enjoy it.

I found this. Would you read and let me know if it is something which interests you? Of course it is mostly academic posturing.

The people who responded or the ones who didn't?

"is there a widely agreed upon scientific universal definition for intelligence?"
