is intelligence a social construct?

is there a widely agreed upon scientific universal definition for intelligence? i know there's the IQ, but i heard it only tests 3 types of known forms of intellect. there has to be more. can anyone bring up a full proof definition?

if not, then it's just a construct. or subjective from person to person with maybe a few  universal consistencies, kinda like beauty.

There is the theory of Multiple Intelligences, I'm sure you are aware, but that is nothing new.

There really isn't a common theme to the eight abilities in the theory of Multiple Intelligences.  As I see it, these are disparate skills. I think what you are looking for is the Nature vs. Nurture debate (Genetic predisposition for intelligence versus Environment) There was a study done with genetic twins who were raised in different households.

To my mind, more important than raw intelligence is what you make of it.

Thomas Edison said, Genius is 99% perspiration; 1% inspiration.  I think he tried many, many filaments before he found one that suited the lightbulb as we know it.

I think genius is stubborn. It takes a certain kind of tenacity (steadfastness) and perspicacity (narrowness of vision) to be successful in this life. Lacking one or the other, it doesn't usually work.

There are nine defined areas of intelligence in psychology today. You can be tested for which areas you are strongest in.

Geniuses are defined by their ability to take well educated risks.

the fact that they're all "skills" says enough about the perspective of whoever came up with it. they probably see  intelligence as something that can be "worked on".  it's definitely a more egalitarian definition. i'm not sure where people get the idea that it HAS to be 100% genetic, when IQs (just an example) have been shown to be affected by the smallest things outside of genetics.

A common factor of a genius? Extreme malleability/ adaptability I suppose.
