How easy is it to live by the golden rule- 'Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You'?

Moral Maxims and principles are based on observation of what works within the context or construct of a system, however whether it is ego syntonic/ dystonic ( learned some new terms, despite the source being marvelously questionable in their actions ) seems to be the more important compass. Maybe? Or perhaps the background noise of an individual? Culture and religion, as is clearly observable on a global scale makes that apparent.

Could write a book on this question of existence. Would take too long to get into it, as everything can flip the other way and perspectives shift, new data/information will/can/ does alter thoughts that precede actions. 10001 scenarios can spin out from what you have to start with, change one aspect, and it all comes together very differently. How can one be sure that there is not projection in there to mess up the picture? Then rearrange and shift the drivers and motivators, and what have you got then? So many aspects that come together to paint the picture of whom you are dealing with. But will they even know themselves in different circumstances? How will and does that affect them? How does the stain of life experience color their perceptions? The only constant is yourself. How consistent are you? What is it that precedes any inconsistency? Triangulate a a paradigm to question your theory on a person, what do you get? Change the variables? Now what can be seen? What do they do?

And fundamentally are not terrible, but taken to extreme, allow for the abuse of the intent and untold damage.

It makes no sense to limit yourself by a rule that makes no sense. It literally makes no sense, no matter how i apply this rule.
You are being silly. You apply it, based on whom you think deserves the best of you. You may not see it that way though. ( Maybe I am projecting, but I don't think so )

Me neither, but they are useful guidelines. Sometimes they need to be broken, and I would like to think for the greater good as opposed to spreading shit around. But...not everyone will agree with that either. It's my childlike simplicity in the face of the potential for what I know people are capable of as knowing myself, that can be hideous in it's expression, but not without reason. Again, the perspective tends to have a great deal to do with that.
