TK was given moderation abilities by Luna for various reasons. TK had a laid-back stance, and even people who didn't like her generally agreed she was a good moderator. Moderation passed on to TC while I away for a while, and he's had a very laissez-faire attitude toward moderation. That was the stance people agreed he should take, when he asked how should he moderate. He's stuck to that laid-back attitude very clearly as it was laid out.

The logical consequences of how the community agreed it should be "managed" has led to this thread. We can see that perhaps there may have been an error in judgment, or perhaps that it was not entirely clear how "laid back" things should be. The chat and threads have turned into a stream of immaturity and stupidity. That is why compared to months or a year ago, the quality of the forum has taken a dramatic drop. And I doubt many people who have been here for half a year or longer would disagree, except to play the contrarian. And then when some of the more interesting personalities do drop by, they leave rather promptly when they see the state of the forum. Note the part of Ed's post I put in bold lettering. What he was talking about there is exactly what I was just talking about.

Now Luna, I know that when you want a visitor and prospective member to see your site, you don't want them to see what looks like a bunch of teenagers from 4Chan let loose on a forum without restrictions. Remember that one thread where everyone was posting their excrement, and you deleted it because you want to attract visitors, not repel them? Don't you think half of the time when you look at this site, it looks in general more repulsive than that one thread you were disgusted by?

Now Online may not participate in discussion much as he prefers to observe, but he's been here for a while (longer than I have), and he is in concord with everyone else when they're saying the forum looks absolutely fucking retarded right now. It is literally purposefully being shit on.

Personally, I don't think Jim is a problem, when he sticks to his one account. Jim stirs up people purposefully, but that's part of why people stay around in the first place. Because it's fun to watch people fucking with each other. If the consensus is he is too obnoxious, then ban him. But I think he's fine. That he feels the need to to use puppets to express extremely immature aspects of his personality is very peculiar to me, but whatever.

It's up to everyone who has the ability to affect how the forum operates to decide the direction it goes in. Now Turncoat was prompted to make this thread, because many people (including myself) have complained that what used to be an enjoyable place for conversation (and perhaps a bit of cruelty) has metamorphed into something utterly asinine.

Most of us that were enjoying ourselves were a bit more socially conscious, and find absolutely no amusement in the extremely juvenile discussions and antics of what everyone who has been around for a while has been complaining of in this thread.

You forget one very important aspect of tk's job: that was muting dex. Only 2 things she had to do: delete spam, mute dex on sight.

The site looks like shit, but if you pay attention that's because of mainly 2 people who have been behaving like dex for weeks: Sinister and Eduhard. There is no change in the mod's job description requested on this thread. The mod was always supposed to cut dex-like behavior short. We just have 2 more dexes. I think enough weeks have passed with those 2 around to allow us to say that.

Like I said, I was gone before TK was on her way out. I'm just stating what I observed at the time when I was around. I don't see why what TK did as a mod is such a huge deal. The topic of discussion is the current state of the forum and how it is to be handled.

i know but we are allowed to sometimes discuss other things too, this isn't like PF. it's not necessarily a big deal, it's just important to remember the disaster that was TK as admin because we need to always keep in mind the balance between a clean forum and an able approachable mod. that does link into how to handle the forum and make sure nothing like that catastrophe happens again.
