Well lets talk calling judgement by looks, slang, skin color and so on. I look at this guy and think whoa, clearly he is criminal. Then I look at the cops, and I think, whoa, clearly they are on an organized crime payroll and clearing out dealers for their own business.

Look at those white guys. They are clearly "goodfellas".

What the fuck does that lawyer mean, when he says, "They are looking for a payday"

And if your city is immune to this, I got news for you. I've seen officers that are clearly foreign military. What can you do? The problem is widespread.

What can you do right? Decriminalize stuff and take the profit out of crime. What other options are there?

You make it sound like we're drinking out of separate water fountains. Most racism today is just small, subconscious quirks people have with minorities. Maybe it's prevalent where you're located but that type of racism isn't that widespread or severe when it comes to the police profiling blacks or hispanics.

"today it is worse than it was in the 60s and 70s because of police brutality."

I have a hard time believing that when every small race issue becomes blown into a nationwide debate today. The racism today is subtle and I'm sure my grandparents would take equal opportunity resources and subtle racism over Jim Crow laws. That statement is just blatantly disrespectful for the people that actually grew up in those times and had to bear those burdens.

As for the minorities getting stopped far more than whites I agree it is something that needs fixed. I talked to one of my friends asked him what the majority of people he stops are ethnically(he himself is latino/irish works in cleveland) he told me honestly its 90% african american. It can seem like racism and for certain individuals it is but because of past events minorities are coddled in the low income areas of society. Just a pitiful case of socio-economics and the only way to fix it is to give minorites more ways to get out of the ghetto which the government has been doing with equal opportunity resources and setting incentives for universities as well as businesses that have a diverse acceptance rate/employees.

It's just going to take time.

What? How do you not see it?

Americans are like the proverbial frogs getting boiled alive in small increments. I saw that shit as an outsider. I've never seen anything like that at home. I was 16 and some crazy woman started waving her shotgun around at me bc she thought I was fucking the kid I was walking with. O.O  Biggest wtf moment of my life. Like why is it anybody's business who I am fucking, was fucking, want to be fucking? We weren't even fucking. And this psycho freak wanted to kill me for that? For walking with a black boy? Pfft.

Americans are fucking crazy about racism.

Again only in secluded hot spots that are inflated out of proportion by the media. Racism isn't severe or blatant today the few instances that are get nationwide media coverage.

thats fucked up though, racism is always a little more extreme in the rural areas of society

I did say in an earlier post that it's silly to generalize and that obviously I was but I know it isn't all of them.

I ain't actually telling you to comb your hair or put on a hood I am saying in theory you have options :)

I also said I was aware that it is all of society but that since the thread is about Police Officers I am looking at it from that lense. No use in tackling something that ginormous when we can just focusing in on a small aspect.

Adjust the people like this is a one two three process, ha this takes so many generations and so many changes this is something I will never see. Something my children will never see my hope is that my grandchildren or my great grandchildren will sit here and finally get to stop marching to prove they are equal. That is why I am an activist for them TC and I get maybe you do not understand what it is like to fight for something much grander than any one of us.

You keep preaching this fix all people you fix cops... So go ahead fix it TC. You make it sound so simple so go on

Lol so I'm sensitive because I bring up the word Microaggression XDXD oh shit good one. No I'm not sensitive again you don't understand and that's okay :)

Lmao of course there are many many other things to take into consideration but again I am looking at it from a specific lense. But if you want to get technical combine anything with black and it's still harder. transgenders of color are the ones murdered the most.

Sure I'll admit I can be slightly biased. I am still waiting for you to admit that you are ignorant. That never works just makes people look dumb and insensitive.  Nothing wrong with it either you can't preach what you don't know or what you haven't learned. All a process. All I can say is do your research and read your books : ). Might wanna start with Jennifer Eberhart (last name might be spelled wrong, sorry).

Funny you throw out the race doesnt matter, of course it does. We are way past trying to instill the colorblind mentality, really it just makes people look really dumb and insensitive :p. I am not judging you on your race but on your answers. Nothing you've said shows me that you understand in the slightest and I am not here to judge you for that but I do think that it would make you a bigger person to be able to admit to certain things instead of trying to constantly argue back or prove something.

Yes I know we are essentially saying the same thing just for different reasons and hey that's cool too and yes I am aware that  the body cams have faults lol (New Orleans failed at it) but a place in Cali didn't so that is why I say it's something that should be started with/ Obviously it has it's faults but it's a step forward. There is a study being done on the cams and I am excited for it's publication I would be more than happy to send it your way when it's out.

My job is not to sway you either way. The thread is about "POLICE OFFICERS", so I am solely expressing my opinions and experiences as a woman of color. I am slightly biased obviously because of my personal experiences but I do not consider myself a racist just so you know, do I at times discriminate and stereotype white people? Sure, but that is not from absolute ignorance or hatred TC.

"The real question should be, is a white cop more prone to beat the shit out of a black person being arrested over a white person being arrested. On average."
Can't speak for the average with any certainty, but in the US anyway it's safer to beat up people of your own race. Lawyer spin aside, there's also Hate Crime Laws.

"A hate crime law is simply any type of criminal provision that recognizes the bias motivation of the crime and allows for the imposition of an increased sentence for that crime."

Bias as a means for increased sentences trivializes the crimes themselves if you ask me.

"TC, you ever see this one? The guy who was killed and sparked the UK riots was out of this area."
I hadn't.

"They pumped millions into the place, and the crime rates dropped. I don't know what to make of it exactly, other than it is an argument for social economic issues over race issues."
The Reconstruction section talks about how they began to police the quality of the place. These two parts caught my eye the most:

"A local management team was brought in to oversee improvements to the estate and to collect rents and enforce regulations, instead of continuing to attempt to run the estate centrally from Haringey Council's central offices."

"A network of council-run CCTV cameras was installed to monitor the streets and car parks, and each building staffed by a concierge to deter unwanted visitors."

The question then became "How did they get people to go to a place with such a bad history"? Well, they thought of that too:

"Disused shops left empty following the withdrawal of businesses after the riots were converted into low-cost light industrial units to provide employment opportunities for residents and prevent capital from flowing out of the area."

So it wasn't just new housing, but it was new jobs, jobs that were within a place checked on more closely with an army of "concierge" and cameras, designed with the purpose of pushing it's own internal economy. It sounds like the answer was upping local security and then restructuring the ruins with that comfort in place.

I wonder where the "unwanted visitors" ended up migrating to.

Yeah Xena, you ever see this one?

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/31/magazine/life-on-the-line-between-el-paso-and-juarez.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

Juárez has seen a tenfold increase in its murder rate, reaching more than 3,000 homicides last year. El Paso, by contrast, had only five murders.

One of the most violent cities borders one of the safest. They are both gun toting cultures. They all carry guns. The difference is the economic opportunity differences presented to both.

For sure though, seeing as there is a 6 fold increase in missing peoples reports across the whole of the USA over the last quarter century, there is still alot of guesswork.

Pray Said,

Sure you can call me the big mean racist grrr :p. Lol I wish I could send you recordings of me having these same convos with other people of color. I set it down and it don't matter who you are.

Well, lets turn it around on the Latinos. In Texas, if there were an increase in crime spilling over the border. Do you think that police would target specific ethnicities over others? It will happen. Is it fair? Not to Latinos.

Are they racist? Questionable.

Depends on whether or not you are a patriotic rambo, or a batman crime fighter I guess.

If it helps, looking at crime stats, and if you ever choose to do the same. The USA basically divides crime down the line of race and ethnicity where other places are a little more reserved about revealing those statistics, especially considering those arrested for a crime are not evidence that ethnicity commits the crime most often.

It's sort of a Catch 22 situation for lacks of better terms.

You could divide it by income, or education, but that's not what people choose to do in most instances.

I'm telling you, that Bonnie and Clyde and the birth of the FBI is an awesome documentary. That J Edgar Hoover is quite a character.

Late in life and after his death Hoover became a controversial figure, as evidence of his secretive, somewhat questionable, actions began to surface. His critics have accused him of exceeding the jurisdiction of the FBI [1] and claim that he used the FBI to harass political dissenters and activists, to amass secret files on political leaders,[2] and to collect evidence using illegal methods.[3] Hoover consequently amassed a great deal of power and was in a position to intimidate and threaten sitting Presidents.[4] However, according to biographer Kenneth Ackerman, the notion that Hoover’s secret files kept presidents from firing him is a myth.[5]

This is how great minds think.

The Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program of the FBI collects supplementary homicide data that provides information regarding the age, sex, and race of the murder victim and offender; the type of weapon used; the relationship of the victim to the offender; and the circumstance surrounding the incident. Data gleaned from these supplemental data are provided in this section.

Who is poor?

The poverty rate represents an average over the entire population and does not really tell us who is well-off and who is worse off. Blacks and Hispanics have poverty rates that greatly exceed the average. The poverty rate for all blacks and Hispanics remained near 30 percent during the 1980s and mid-1990s. Thereafter it began to fall. In 2000, the rate for blacks dropped to 22.1 percent and for Hispanics to 21.2 percent—the lowest rate for both groups since the United States began measuring poverty. By 2010, however, the poverty rate for both groups had risen to around 26 percent.

Whites not of Hispanic origin had a poverty rate of 9.7 percent in 2012.

The poverty rate for Asians was 11.7 percent.

In 2012, according to the official measure, 46.5 million people, or 15 percent of the total U.S. population, lived in poverty.

So right away you can see. Whites are way more violent than other races.

I mean look at Xena and her avatar.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate

Murder rate per 100,000 inhabitants in 2012.

(Darker is higher intentional homicide rate)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_percentage_of_population_living_in_poverty

If you ask me the Russians and Scandinavians are very violent races, when poverty is not an issue.

We should all know by now that the most fucked up and evil criminals who commit the most horrible and disgusting crimes, are white.

Yeah, well people have agendas, so it's difficult to see through statistics. For example, a hate crime in Canada used to require violence.

Now the definitions of violence is different. Cyber bullying is considered violence by some. A violent hate crime to my understanding hasn't been commited by whites (skin heads) since the 1980s. However as you can see earlier, in Canada it is an epidemic which is out of control.

Murder. No hate crimes since the 1980s.

However, if you include grafitti on the side of a church, well, then we've got serious problems happening. People with thier pictures of dicks and stars of david.

The farther up North you get into cottage country, the more you'll find hicks and rednecks that think pushing Chinese tourists into the water while they fish off the dock is hilarious. However, to everyone else it's a hate crime.

(Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if one of my old friends who dad was a trailer parker was into that)

http://www.torontosun.com/2013/05/10/early-parole-denied-again-in-nip-tipping-tragedy

In his second application in just three months, the Sutton man who rammed a car full of out-of-town anglers off the road in the racially-motivated “nip-tipping” case has again lost his bid for early parole.

Trevor Middleton will remain behind bars at the Central East Correctional Centre in Lindsay — much to the relief of the parents of Shayne Berwick, left permanently brain damaged after Middleton slammed into his friend’s car as he chased them along a country road in September 2007.

That's the way things go.

Broadwater farms. Yeah, the jobs are probably the biggest significant change. Hey, fuck the businesses that move out, if you end up with the businesses that stay.

That's where the non-desireables went, right?

McDonald’s Pune outlet forced to shut after throwing a street kid out!

http://www.indiatvnews.com/buzz/life/street-kid-thrown-out-mcdonalds-pune-outlet-shut-down-62.html

Few days, back an employee at McDonald’s Pune restaurant threw out street kid, saying “We don’t allow these people inside!”

Causing an outrage ever since the incident was reported through a FB post, people all over social media demanded immediate action.

The kid, Akash, a balloon seller was denied entry and was subjected to such discourteous treatment just because he was poor and shabbily dressed.

What really amazes us that if somebody is paying to buy the food, what right does the owner of that place have to interfere?

He wasn’t stealing or begging the employees, or to say broke their serenity inside the premises. So what right did that employee has to act in such a way?

And isn’t McDonald’s known for employing the students and needy ones through out the world? This high-handedness of these global chains exposes their true intent

Not just that, the employee not only threw the kid out but also rudely behaved with the woman who accompanied her to the joint. She took to the social media to expose their ill-behaviour.

Nevertheless, a security personnel involved in throwing the kid out has been for now suspended and the outlet has been shut.

Pune police officials have asked the authorities at the Jungli Maharaj road outlet of the the fast food chain to keep the restaurant closed.

McDonald's India in a statement reassured that all their employees will be re-trained.

Anyways, back to the cops. Who do you believe. Do you really think the cop was stupid enough to ask to have his photo put on the blog? Remember, he didn't erase the ticket.

Remember, NLP eye patterns, up and to the left.
