How do you know they cannot?
Your brain/persona cannot handle this one. Keep out.
Scientific American also claims that psychopaths are:
"Largely devoid of guilt, empathy and love..."
Feel free to post something from a science or psychology website that indicates psychopaths can feel love, as you've claimed. I'd like to see it.
by PhoelyssI do believe everyone has the same amount of emotion
No, emotion is largely a factor of limbic system function. For example. people with reduced amygdalae volumes not only feel less, but are also less perceptive of emotions in others (your cognitive model of others is based upon your own experiences).
by HayasaNo? They don't form emotional attachments to people. How can they care for something/someone if they are incapable of understanding the other person?
If psychopaths did not "understand" other people, charming and manipulative tendencies would not be core diagnostic criterion. A psychopath does not fail to bond with others because they do cannot empathize; a psychopath fails to bond because they are emotionally incapable of doing so.
by thesugargirllol, people with a disorder writing the DSM criteria for it? that would mostly consist of:
1. that bitch deserved it
2. they're all stupid
3. i deserve nice things
4. i'm perfectly fine
it's not pointless to study it if you can't get those with distorted perceptions to accurately assess their issues. if they could do that, they probably wouldn't have such issues..
Those authors are some crazy motherfuckers. You have no idea.
by PhoelyssPrecisely, but psychology does not realise the spectrum, and only wishes to separate people. Hence why, I do not believe in labels, as hipster as that sounds. It's not so much that they are utilising the extreme versions, but more that they only SEE the extreme versions, and ignore everything else.
I 100% agree. Labels are ways to categorize people, but people aren't categorical beings.
