No. But all new inmates will be tested by other inmates and convicts. To see what kind of man he is. We did the same thing to the new co's (jiggers) We would test to see what they were all about. The weak scared co's would be taken advantage of. We had some co's bringing in drugs. Over 1/2 of all the drugs were brought in by the co's
What ind of test/initiation would could you expect to go through?
If you were a "Road Dog", surely you wouldn't entrusted with any task of high priority? Or would they, because they don't mind if you get caught? Would they set you up because you have less status within/use to a gang?
Not sure where you're from, but yeah, that's pretty much what happens where I live. The drugs enter the prisons via the COs. The public occasionally finds out and there's a bit of hysteria about it before it all dies down again.
When you say all new inmates will be tested to find out what kind of men they are, what do you mean? How does the testing take place?
I have heard (from my father) that on very rare occasions in the minimum or medium security prisons, certain men who were cognizant of the fact that they'd be considered "pretty" would offer themselves for sex with offenders who'd been convicted of violent crimes under the mistaken impression that they'd then gain protection from them. These were guys who'd typically be well-educated, and were in prison for white-collar crimes. From my father I gained the impression that they thought that they'd be likely rape victims, so they decided to offer their services to avoid actually being raped. Their attempts to gain protection were usually futile because the offenders who did have sex with them viewed them as weak and submissive. Not sure if any of you who've actually been in a men's prison have ever seen that happen.
