Well that is absolute Bull Shit. You can't be cold and distant as a baby. She is projecting. 

I was cold and distant as a young child. Not being very emotional or affectionate, or wanting to play with other kids much likely gave her that impression.

I am cold and distant to my mother because she doesn't love me. I can not accept that reality.

I believe it was mentioned in the book written by M.E. Thomas that this forum is a place for Sociopaths, Psychopaths, Narcissists, Machiavellian's, Trolls, and the empaths that love and hate them to talk (I am paraphrasing there). I am not a Sociopath, but my mindset and real world behaviour is definitely Machiavellian. Most people on this forum are likely not diagnosed Sociopath.

You've over five thousand posts in, and still trying to convince people of your disorder. Of course you don't socialize as much in real life as you do on the internet, you're too busy trying to convince people you don't even know that you have something wrong with you.

You're absolutely right; I stand corrected. Yet in terms of my dad's brother, I still suspect there must be some sort of underlying genetic connection. My family on my father's side is completely messed up. His sister committed suicide, his mother ran a brothel, his father was a complete psycho who beat the crap out of him and his mom, etc.

My uncle who was diagnosed with schizotypal and schizoid Pds is very strange. He cannot connect or bond with anyone, and he cannot relate to someone without getting angry, and yelling at them. He is completely socially withdrawn, and he engages in all sorts of bizarre magical thinking. (For instance, he is a Raelian.) He also beat his children.

Of course, just because he was diagnosed with something doesn't mean the conclusions drawn by the psychologist were necessarily accurate. I have often wondered whether he might be a full-blown schizophrenic. He really appears disconnected from reality at times. 

AsPD is no more special than any other disorder. It's a defense mechanism for the most part. Using defense mechanisms is a weakness, not a strength. 

Thrill, how is ASPD a defense mechanism? I've never heard that before.

If only sociopaths and psychopaths existed, we'd have never gotten past the caveman stage.

If you have a personality disorder (I'm including sociopathy and psychopathy in that) or some type of syndrome like Aspergers or Bipolar etc., mention what it is and what traits are currently impacting your life.I'm curious how many people here are genuinely affected by mental illness and in what way.

I don't believe I have a personality disorder. I do struggle with some mental health challenges related to impulse/rage control but I've learned to mostly manage this. I don't care to be tested and have some other crazy person tell me in which ways I'm nuts. I am curious but just don't care enough.
