Ritual and superstition.

If you always (or at least usually) do something the same way, because you can't think of a better way of doing it, does that count as a ritual?

Not sure if this counts as a superstition but I believe in intuition as a form of subconscious perception of things that your conscious mind hasn't picked up on yet. It's worked surprisingly well for me in the past.

When Napoleon wanted to promote a man to general, the first thing he asked was "is he lucky" and I don't think that luck is a matter of chance, but rather perception and awareness.

The difficulty is being able to discern intuition from paranoia.

Luck?

Well, Alexander of Macedon just kicked ass.

ritualistic behaviors are communal; habitual behaviors are personal

rituals are encouraged by external factors whereas habits are formed by internal ones

just my opinion

Rituals and superstition is one thing, OCD is one thing, order is yet another.

Just saying.

Funny that you say that, I was just having a conversation about this with my best friend yesterday.

I was saying how with years/age I have learned to listen to my intuition more, previously I would doubt it/myself thinking that I'm imagining things and that I'm crazy (form of paranoia), since I didn't have a concrete proof for feeling a certain way. Now I just go with my gut feeling. My best friend thinks that I'm paranoid, he doesn't see embracing one's intuition as a positive or a logical thing, but we disagree. ;) I know exactly what you mean, luckily for me I'm not paranoid, so I have an easier time with it.

As far as rituals and superstitions go, many cultures have them. I grew up with them and certain ones I do observe, just to be on the safe side. One of my best friends has her own set of cultural superstitions that the rest of us kind of picked up on from being around her for so many years. I don't really believe and buy into any of them, but appreciate them as part of the local folklore and tradition. I don't have any rituals that I religiously follow to where I would feel out of whack if I were to break them.

I used to text "I love you" to someone before the plane took off. They never text back, so I stopped.

Guess its only fair I put up some of my rituals.

I wipe the blood of whatever I shoot on my left hand.

I use ritualistic breathing techniques for de-stress and exercise.

I guess my exercise routine is also somewhat ritualistic, although I do swap it around a bit when possible.

If I think of more I'll post them.

Can I please hear more about the blood? Like, A lot more? Thanks.
