Ritual and superstition.

Many people have daily rituals, some refer to them as quirks, or their "thing" ....its "what they do".
Some people lock themselves into certain routines, which are in themselves "ritual".
Whether it is for comforts sake, a distinct dislike of change, or an OCD..... ritual makes up some important aspects of the human psyche.

Add to that, superstition ...and sometimes , a revealing picture emerges of the subconcious.

So.....how many of you have certain "rituals", that you adhere to within your lives?.

Would changing these rituals create a void that must be filled immediately? .... or would you be content and at peace to just let them go?

Are any of you superstitious?.....

And do any of the rituals in your lives, tie into past trauma or incidents that bought about large changes?

I used to be a mess of rituals and compulsions. Thankfully I have (mostly) escaped that.

Had specific ways of washing my hands, organizing the world to an imaginary grid, keeping volume divisible by five, had to make sure everything was symmetrical, couldn't step on cracks, the list goes on. I was a mess.

Sitting outside before bed helps settle my mind and fall asleep easier.  Definitely a ritual.

Can't think of any superstitions at the moment.

And Saint Klaus is only black if you leave coal in your fireplace.

Are there still rituals you engage in on a lesser level these days TC?

I'm not superstitious and I don't have any rituals. Hell, I hate routine as it is.

Usually my "rituals" returning is my first warning symptom that I ought to take Zinc. When able to resist the urges to follow them, I find it healthier for my state of mind to avoid routines. I still practice aspects of my older ways of thinking at times, and I still worry about my body being weighted evenly with an equal number of objects on each side to feel "right".

Otherwise I guess I still have various status check rituals, like my body-check routine before heading out the door to make sure I have everything, but that's pretty common.

I never attached superstitions to them though, it was just the difference between right and wrong.

Not even ONE ritual TK?

I get the routine thing, but Im willing to bet there is at least one thing that you do that could be classed as ritualistic.

Can you explain further?

Sitting outside, is that the ritual itself?, or is there something that accompanies that.
