If you want to see some real practitioners of magic, /r/occult is a real laugh riot.
This place has gems such as:
o "There is no such thing as imagination. It is all about attuning to different realities. "
o [on the topic of Chaos Mages] "I think I told the story way back, but one of them became prominent in a local church and when they tried to make him a pastor he just laughed and told them he was a sorcerer and left. He could adopt a plethora of personalities effortlessly and be 100% lost to them, and it was wild. Dude was a powerful magus."
o "For a short time recently I've been experiencing strange occurences, and every single time the name of Belial rings out like a trumpet in my skull. What are your experiences with him?"
o [on the topic of Invocations] "Also its pretty good to know how to get rid of the power invoked. Usually a license to depart will go a long way but a good banishing will get rid of most things."
It's not about logic, it's about hope.
I could write a 10 page treatise as to why the Bible is more historically accurate than any other document from antiquity- and in fact, I have, lol! But in the end, what convinces me are the personal experiences I've had... and hope. If that's "magical thinking", then I'm guilty as charged. :p
