How Would You Describe Yourself

"Very socratic, Turncoat."

From not really having a strong base of knowledge related to Socrates, I find it... sort of haunting how chronic I fall into Socratic Questioning patterns (from research when I wasn't sure what you meant).

Interesting.

Well, neither do I.

I don't know a lot about philosophy either, but what you said reminded me of one of his most famous quotes "I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing".

I wish I had more time available to study these topics, though...

"So you don't "suck in" the things around you?"

I used to be more empathetic, but I feel like I've lost a lot of it. Perhaps I'm just learning how to rationalize everything and, well, I'd say that my emotions are really hollow and empty.

"Can you live with this void without affecting those around you?"

I think it's draining. I've expressed this to some of my closest family members, but they don't seem to understand what happens. I never talk about this with others (different from family members), because it would be worse...

I find others really boring and meaningless and when I have to pretend that I care, it's like they're taking all the energy that I have inside.

It would be much better if I could invest it in myself or just keep it.

However, we must interact with others in real life and part of that interaction is determined by the way you deal with other people. In these cases, it's necessary to pretend and wear masks, even if you dislike it.

It's what we have to do, if we want to survive...but sometimes, I wonder if I'll be able to keep this attitude. I feel it's too draining and exhausting.

This explains a lot of behavior here.  Many on this forum are keen on using provocation to initiate discussion.  Like I said, the quickest way to turn someone interesting is to confront them with contradiction.  Conflict, disagreement, and discord generates far more involvement to a situation.  The real trouble is that most regular folk think it is just being an asshole.  But hey, they were boring first, so it is their fault.  They don't realize we're trying to help.

Well, drama is interesting and leads the forum to a higher level. I also noticed that others get involved more when there's a lot of conflict and discussion, but that's how things are, even in real life. Plus, this is the type of behavior that you'll find in a sociopath forum like this one, haha.

I personally don't need drama online, 'cuz I don't have enough time to deal with it and...ohhh.

"You'd never be a profiler. You're just average. A nice person, I like you, but you're just one more, not one that stands out. You can always change, of course. If you ever decide to be great, count on me"

That's funny, a lot of people say the opposite about me. Even a psychologist pointed out to me once that I'm "different from other people" (her words).

I have no real desire to be 'great'. I'm content just being myself, which is great enough in my opinion, but if I ever become great in the business world, I'll call you. I'll need someone to get my morning coffee.
