I used to think about this alot when I was younger... It has crept back into my thoughts here of late.  What's this all about?  What is it for?  Why?

What if , there is no Why? Only, because.

Consiousness is a gift... That's as far as I can get.  What is like to be a cat?  An eagle?  Maybe even... The earth.

And what is consciousness without awareness of a difference? And if that difference is based on assumption, than consciousness is merely delusion.

Some propose it was an evolutionary adaptation to increase surface area to volume ratio of brain matter, but recent studies indicate consciousness is the result of a mechanical failure known as buckling (the folding of tissue). 

The only logical explanation is that you're God and everyone and everything else is only your delusional imagination.

Are you unaware of what the entire human body is made of? All neural connections and perpetuation of life itself is the result of the very presence of cells and the interactions between them.
