I'm just demonstrating a fear of needles in response to your "tough or strong" line and arguing with your use of the poor-yet-commonly visited argument of "saving the human race". Letting enough of us get sick might actually be what this species needs, similarly to how Deer function in the wild when they become too densely populated.
Who's to say I don't fear sickness, germs, and diseases more than needles though?

The flu shot is adjusted slightly each year to include the 3 strains that are more virulent that year. It isnt possible to add another strain to the vaccine. Your body can handle 3 but 4 or kore induced immune reactions overload the system and jts more likely someone will have an adverse reaction instead of producing antibodies
what i am saying is that we are selecting for that 4th strain to be the strain that moves throught the population. people are vaccinated against the other 3. and the last couple of years this has happened. also that 4th strain was a particularly nasty strain of swine flue.

The shots have to be prepped with enough time in advance to be widely available, so determining which strains to cover is kinda a guessing game. They look at how much damage a strain has done and it's potential for the upcoming year when designing a new year's flu shot. They can only choose 3 and take into consideration most potentially harm, and expected incidence rate of each strain
