This whole rip in pants bullshit is just a mockery of the working class and those in poverty. Its fashion for people that haven't worked a labor intensive job or haven't lived through such poverty that hand me downs with rips were inevitable but we're mended as best as possible. It reminds me of the fake mud jeans marketed to rich people so they can pretend to be all quirky and cute and it is so shit.

I thought it started as punk fashion that was pushed by the music scene.

It's not that different from how late 70s to early 80s tried to appropriate Hippy fashion.

There's a difference in the way it's being worn by people in the punk genre which is often anti establishment and the way celebrities and the wealthy are wearing these article of clothing. Punks had these in their wardrobe and were used on a regular basis and likely had an identity around it. The wealthy buying this stuff are just being tourists and think it's cool and quirky.

Hot Topic begs to differ, and the only difference is the presence of safety pins.

I think people are just bored of the clean cut aesthetic, it's too conformist. Rips make them feel original over how they aren't uniformly established.

Hot topic isn't catering to the wealthy with 400$ fake mud pants. I get what you're trying to say but it's not the same at all. At the end of the day they can end it and wear any other sort of jeans or pants whenever they like, they just think this is so cute cos the poors are styling it.

This thread was made for tryp hoping he would see how I feel about him but instead he got mad at me LOL

i don't really understand stuff like this because we don't talk a lot, and when we do it's not the vibe of a prelude to a relationship. i'm not even thinking about relationships because i don't have the time to make one meaningful, or really even the inclination for a long while now. if posts like these are just meant to be cutesy then i kind of get it, but then why occasionally attack cs claiming she "stole" me or whatever
