you fuckign ignoring me again tc this will be the last time you understand you little bitch
define it first if you will?
Determinism basically, cause and effect as a long series of dominos.
fate deserves its own thread but why do you believe in it?
Based on our ability to predict patterns as is we've been able to use deductive reasoning to predict future events with a fair amount of accuracy, whether that be for Psychological and Sociological patterns, Meteorology and Bird patterns to foresee weather conditions, Political patterns from history and group dynamics, birth times for Astrology, cold reading for con artistry, there's tons of ways to build a web of information that can be used as predictive modeling for future events with even small degrees of steering we can utilize such as Agricultural gains from learning about the patterns of the land. When compared to the rest of the animal kingdom we're practically fate benders and time lords.
While we aren't able to do this with a high enough degree of certainty to push the idea of Fate into a fully accepted concept, I believe that Machine Learning will be what proves to be sharp enough to accomplish this.
Right. Maybe stick to calling it predictive analysis or determinism ?
It's exciting to see predictions improve as our datasets grow too. For most things we can be happy with statistically representative accuracy of models but over time we can simulate real life in real time. The problem will be less to do with computing power but getting the data. It's going to be surprisingly physical for centuries to come before we go fully virtual. I think a long transitional period will exist where we feed our models with even more data and then the question is how much data will we need to get to an accurate representation? We might never achieve this due to the sheer amount of data required.
Determinism is not the same thing as fate.
Evolution happened and is still happening.
We can predict some patterns.
But the shit can change. Wings of a butterfly creating a hurricane and all that.
I mean wtf happened so platypus became a thing, anyway? lol
And HELLO. The French, American and Bolshevik revolutions.
Goodbye Monarchy and fixed caste systems as the world knew them.
I'm still a bit skeptical about machines.
Giving that much control to technocrats is almost as bad as giving it to the church :P
HEY
FUCKING STOP EVADING
Jesus Christ, for real.
Right. Maybe stick to calling it predictive analysis or determinism ?
But that is still Fate, the idea that what you will do could be predicted in advance shows there's that many less possibilities deductively, but my argument is moreover how we can't do it well enough to have it fit the bill of the word 'Fate', but that rather the relative comparison between our perceptions and that of animals as well as eachother for variation shows an idea of how much more it could see if it were better at it than us. Determinism is effectively just explaining/rationalizing the idea of Fate, rather than saying Fate is in the hands of some dude or cosmic force.
I think that all the events that precede where we are now are what led to exactly where we are, contingent on what happened before it to such a degree that we're effectively bound to it. Because the events before now have happened, we have no choice but to do precisely what we're going to as a result of it. Within that mindset there's no room to believe in things like free choice, but rather in the moments of indecision that we think constitute that.
