Also I wasn't expecting a single post here so the 3 pages of posts took me by surprise. You all are so supportive, even if it is just to discuss the pros and cons of coffee.

this isn't about coffee, it's about you. we love you!

Chimpi smash.

Idk it's probably culture thing too coffee in the morning and coffee in the evenings the way to go.tbh

In the evening?

I knew someone and she'd have coffee in the evening before bed, too. It's bizarre isn't it? She'd sleep quietly and good, and yes it was caffeinated. Her system was just wired differently and she wasn't an anxious person at all either

There's two types of people who use stimulants to fall asleep:

A) ADD/ADHD types: It's similar to the Ritalin before bed principle, but not nearly as unhealthy. I've more traditionally seen it done with Coca-Cola for some reason, not sure why. It basically short circuits them into a sleepy state by upping how quickly they're burning through fuel.

B) Addicts: The addiction symptoms make it harder to rest, making for better sleep with it than without it in relation to the withdrawal otherwise. The cravings can seriously fuck with blood pressure and REM sleep, making for more active dreams to the point of nightmare. Rather than drinking caffeine to sleep, they are drinking it to calm down enough from the addiction to achieve slumber. There is otherwise no reason to drink caffeine before sleep unless you're hoping to overdo it and crash afterwards (even then, you'll get physical tremors and restless sleep).

People have to be pretty amped from the getgo to fall asleep from stimulants.

Or maybe some people can sleep despite having drank caffeine, and the range of effect is wider than originally expected?

Immune system deficiencies, decreased energy overall, and addiction risks beyond just 'habit forming' to start off. Watching people detox the stuff's no joke, and watching my folks and a roommate of mine try going cold turkey was enough to inspire me to do a project on it for my 'Psychology of Addiction' class years back (I also got to see Systematic try to kick the stuff when we went to Thailand, a place that refuses to sell caffeine).

Caffeine's up there with salt, dairy, and sugar when it comes to addictive food sales, and it hits harder than those do. Typically with how they package it it's delivered to the person in drink-form... but caffeine is also a diuretic, meaning that you're actually becoming more dehydrated through it's consumption. With the energy it works up as well you'll be burning through your stores of water much faster, and as we've seen with energy drinks this can lead to a vicious cycle similar to that of Salt and Alcohol, both for the endless cycle and through how it can trick the reward center of your brain.

Caffeine's a mess, it's best you quit that shit beyond occasional use. For myself it's worse than it is for other people over how it can make my schizo-symptoms harder to control, but witnessing it from others doesn't look fun either as they become adjusted to it, as they require it to 'feel normal'. It's not as bad as cigarettes, but it's an over the counter drug sold to us in the form of food and drink (and even soap). Their body gets this like... itch for it as their blood pressure and REM cycles get all fucked up without it.

Lol how much coffee do people around you guzzle? Overhydration can kill you too but water is still healthy. I'd say sugar is a far worse substance than caffeine, and even then it's down to the timing of how it's metabolised (which is why you can eat fruits but should stay away from candy)

You're completely right in that caffeine is an addictive drug but coffee is still very healthy, and absolutely not hard to use in moderation. It protects against liver cancer, possibly against heart disease and helps prevent alzheimer's disease. A cup of coffee a day is an excellent habit, just don't overdo it.

Caffeine is great,  around 400-500mg daily

so 3-4 cups coffee to get full benefits. also instant coffee has somewhat lower caffeine content than filtered coffee

Day 2

Did everything except I made a half-assed effort during the HIIT because it's so easy not to force yourself so I'm thinking of fixing a route and timing it.
