I see the two as 1-to-1 comparisons relatively: It's a culture with quirks and traits that otherwise presents obstacles for their media's themes. They rush right by Halloween plot-wise and focus entirely on comprehending Christmas just like every other Christmas special where Christmas didn't exist in their setting before the plot (such as Christmas Comes to Pacland, a videogame culture going through "learning about Christmas" tropes, or the He-Man/Sheera crossover Christmas special with Skeletor "learning it" in spite of it being unnatural).

NBC has Halloween people trying to Christmas just how Bojack has animal people trying to Existentialize, and I'd say that the animal species as representations of who the characters are is equally relevant to the Halloween-y display in NBC (even if NBC's depth for it is significantly shallower).

I'd see a show about an Alcoholic trying to quit drinking as about Rehab through a similarly comparative model: The alcoholism is the culture obstacle present within the theme of Rehabilitation tropes and storytelling.
