Lol sometimes Turncoat says a lot to say very little.

What'd I say?

You’re suggesting I’m not bad at the game, Chapo ?

He's suggesting that you're a good test for noobs.

It’s not turn based, many strong pokemon have 2 charged moves of the same type. Stat modifiers are huge to the game. There are a lot of things that aren’t there but the more you play the game the more you see they aren’t needed.

Quite the opposite, the more I played the game the more I realized that type clusters are booooring when that's the sole game mechanic. Even stat buffing gets boring if you can't do interesting gambits with it (like Baton Pass).

I also hadn't realized until playing PokeGo how much EVs add to the game.

Baits are a huge part of the game.

Exactly, stat buffs and type clustering solely. It's a caveman game app disguised as Pokemon, whereas the originals had some crazy abilities for rules lawyering the match.

Even a move as shitty as Disable, or even both forms of the move Spite, make the game a lot more interesting. Removing status effects from this game is a crime.

I’ll stream my matches tomorrow, there is a ton of strategy to the game and I actually like the way shields work. You literally haven’t played the game enough to understand it at all. It’s a completely different style of game but that doesn’t make it bad at all.

I have played it, and that is precisely what makes it bad. It's a downgrade from a blatantly superior system, all in the name of a timing gimmick. They trimmed like 90% of what makes Pokemon good and turned it into that thing.

Ooh, I looked like I was charging towards my super move that does extra damage from it matching my type, but then used the weaker move that's super effective instead, soooo complex

I guess I’d rather play with a dialga than a smeargle in the main series.

I'd take Smeargle, that shit wrecks games to the point of bans.

Legendaries are the definition of boring gameplay anyway. It's like when I was a kid how there was always that guy who'd have his team with a Mewtwo and all three legendary birds, it's flashy, boring, and takes away from the variety that's otherwise present within the game.

I enjoy watching stuff like Shedinja sweeps, or watching a Slowking become a fucking beast inside of a Trick Room.

Beat med and I’ll believe you have any experience with the game.

I mostly just caught Pokemon and claimed some gyms while traveling, I never claimed to be skilled at the game, merely that I have experience.

Still, it is Med, but even if I beat her it really doesn't negate this game's structural flaws.

So you’re saying you have no experience whatsoever and your biased opinion is that the game is flawed because it is different.

Flame charge Mew sweeps are what I live for in this game.

What even makes a sweep exciting in PokeGo? Pokemon sweeps at least require a cleverly planned gimmick, like the aforementioned Shedinja sweep tactic where you Entrain it with a partner like Audino to trade out Wonderguard for Sturdy, rather than just throwing utilizing resistances in what ultimately is just a series of power attacks.

It still takes a lot to sweep a game, obviously you need to use everything you have to accomplish it in any sort of legitimate match.

Not at all, it's in how it's different that it's otherwise lacking.

It's like comparing Chess to Checkers. If you were a Checkers champion and could consistently beat me at the game, it still doesn't really change the nature of the game itself when compared to the complexity present within Chess.

There's so little to utilize though, and what's there to use is itself simplified beyond recognition.

Did you know their move "Counter" isn't even a counter-attack in PokeGo?

I know everything there is to know. It’s a different game, it was never meant to be the same. The battling system is more admittedly more fun than complex. Also are you calling checkers a bad game because it is more simple than chess?

When I was four or so I used to cheat and also upset the checkerboard when my dad wasn’t looking because I could not bear to lose.

When is the last time we have played chess

I know everything there is to know. It’s a different game, it was never meant to be the same.

Niantic meant their game to resemble it, but they couldn't use GameFreak's turn based system from them owning the exclusive licensing to it. This is why when it was still just a GPS with an Augmented Reality feature for catching pokemon that you didn't have to fight them to capture them.

Basically, if we want Pokemon Go to be as good as Pokemon, it'd have to be GameFreak at the helm making it thanks to legal nonsense. The only reason you can even transfer Pokemon from one platform to the other is through The Pokemon Company itself lobbying between both interests.

The battling system is more admittedly more fun than complex.

It really doesn't grab me.

Also are you calling checkers a bad game because it is more simple than chess?

It's worse, arguably to the point of bad. It's still better than Tic Tac Toe anyway from having more complexity to it than that, but come on, Chess is unmistakably better than Checkers in spite of them both using the same board as their foundation.

I don’t find checkers to be unmistakably worse than chess. It’s a completely different game and it’s not meant to be as complex. If you want to compare Pokémon go battling to checkers and regular to chess I don’t have a real issue with that.

What makes that better or equal though?

I understand appreciating simplicity when it otherwise denotes an even larger complexity, such as we see from the game Go, but when the complexity goes beneath a certain tier it feels more like a mental exercise than something truly engaging from it lacking the same number of layers, of dimensions to it's potential outcomes.

If you want to compare Pokémon go battling to checkers and regular to chess I don’t have a real issue with that.

It does seem like an apt comparison, as Pokemon Go at least has more going on than Tic Tac Toe.
