Cresselia is burly, Chapo
Worth noting that he is using confusion which is like the 3rd highest damage dealing fast attack while I am using psycho cut which is one of the lowest. Also Jirachi double resists psychic while cresselia only resists it.

So you're saying I misinterpreted Cresselia all around? lel I thought you took him out and reintroduced him at the end of the match and it seemed to me to be the reason for your win. Not Very Effective lol

No you’re not wrong at all, cresselia is very bulky, and the moonblast made it so I could finish with just a shadow claw.
I still don't see why they don't bother with status effects beyond stat buffs, or even health draining moves if not moves that affect the opponent's stored energy or something.
Sure. As to your ‘health draining moves’, the excellent, offensive move Wild Charge—common to more than a few of my favorite Pokémon— will also cause defenses to fall sharply after use.
That's just stat mechanics followed by resistances, I want gimmicks.
With the way this game is structured now, I believe they could add status moves for stuff like poison, paralysis, or sleep without it necessarily breaking the game.
I’ve been thinking about this and the main problem is that you only have 1 charged attack until you pay stardust and candies for a second one. Imagine having a pokemon that only knows hypnosis or sleep powder and a move that charges them up but doesn’t do really significant damage. A lot of people don’t have enough tms to change the random move you get. Sure it would be great to have shadow claw hypnosis and dream eater but imagine only having hypnosis or dream eater as a “nuke”. Also moves don’t miss, which would almost mean shields would have to prevent status changes.
Define nuke and define status change
Charged attacks have been called nukes in this thread, in the main series your pokemon can get put to sleep, paralyzed, confused, or poisoned. I’m trying to explain why many of the moves that cause these status changes wouldn’t really work like they do in the main series.
