It's closer to trying to control an outbreak of ideas:
It's why they worry about social contagion risks from even generally random gatherings (like ICP); This stuff is otherwise difficult to stop from happening before it's already started. People can say the right things at the right times to potentially trigger conveniently primed extremists into playing into their hands, and without being an organized group there's no paper-trail or direct means of otherwise blaming the Charisma that otherwise was causally responsible.
Proud Boys' model demonstrated why it's better left as an ambiguous mob.
Kestrel, do you figure this was a good decision on their part to block Proud Boys' accounts?
Depends on what the "violence" was. Trump got censored on twitter for saying there'd be dire consequences if rioting started around the white house.
Direct harm shouldn't be allowed(I'm going to shoot x person of x political affliation) but every other tick on that seems reasonable to me. Do you agree with most of the bullet points on the full screencap, being valid reasons across the for someone to be forcefully cut from payment?
Violence towards those who disagree being in their message is definitely bad, and Racist actions is otherwise quite vague, but otherwise being sexist and racist is an odd banner to block funds over.
The way groups like Proud Boys organize, much like Antifa, makes for questions over what those funds would be used for, and from a corporate standpoint I can understand why that might make some partner companies nervous.
