Also. Yesterday Discord sent me an error message requiring me to provide my phone number to continue using my account so I will no longer be reachable on discord.

Does this mean that a large enough group of people rapidly and consistently shitposting could clog up their database?

You could just get a cheap burner phone for times like this.
do you know what caused this change?
BLM protests made them decide to crackdown on the rampant hate speech on the platform.
lmao Discord's literally just announced it's changing its platform from gamers to more "family friendly." Everyone's using discord because of the pandemic even teachers holding classes.
"Discord on Tuesday announced it’s making a number of changes to expand its service beyond the gaming community. The company says the change is one its users have requested as Discord has become more of a tool for “day-to-day communication.”
“YOUR PLACE TO TALK”
The company has launched a redesigned website with the tagline “Your place to talk.” The new site describes Discord as appropriate for school clubs, gaming groups, art communities, or just groups of friends.
Discord outlined a number of actions it plans to take to make its platform friendlier to non-gaming users. They include improving “the new user onboarding experience,” increasing capacity for voice and video chat, and continuing to invest in “reliability and performance as our top priority.” Discord says it made the interface’s built-in jokes and references less specific to gaming. And the company has created a “Discord Safety Center” that summarizes its data practices, rules, safety tips, and explanations for parents and teachers.
Discord’s audience continues to grow, especially as the coronavirus pandemic has increased demand for voice and video chat services. The company, which competes primarily with workplace chat apps like Slack, announced it now has more than 100 million monthly active users who spend 4 billion minutes in conversation each day. Discord has also secured an additional $100 million in funding, which it says will “help accelerate our investment in the community, new features, and the company.”

This always happens because of the contingency clauses on where their money comes from.
BLM is topical, so BLM is cash.

Anyone have a link verifying this?

Yeah I haven't particularly found this detail myself, mostly people from outside of the US being like "WTF why is Discord yelling politics at me?" while also going on about having a family friendly censorship program to make the platform become more profitable while also hiring some new people based on racial quotas.
The more I look into this, the more this looks like PR lip service with a small measure increase in censorship protocols, but even their 'Safety Center' is assuring us they will not scan or read your content if an issue hasn't arisen:
Nothing on keylogging or permanent records so far, just a note on a third party audit and PhotoDNA tracking CP without people having to see it.

I got the info from Kestrel, I'll see if he can send me a link
Edit: derp. I just realized i dont have a way to contact him now that I can't use discord. Someone hit him up and ask
While still nothing on keylogging or permanent records, as a note on their censorship practices:
"KYS" and jokes about starving is officially against Discord guidelines. Even telling someone to "Eat More" could be used against you, which imagine what that could do to a Feeder/Gainer server?
From the 'How We Investigate' page. Still doesn't sound like keyloggers anyway.
Why they're likely adjusting their policies in the first place:
Compared to:
Harassment claims to have jumped up by 10%, look at that pie piece size. From their Transparency Report.
According to the TOS, you can't:
post, upload, transmit or otherwise disseminate information that is objectionable as outlined in our Community Guidelines;
defame, libel, ridicule, mock, stalk, threaten, harass, intimidate or abuse anyone;
attempt to obtain passwords or other private information from other members;
improperly use support channels or complaint buttons to make false reports to us;
exploit, distribute or publicly inform other members of any game error, miscue or bug which gives an unintended advantage; violate any applicable laws or regulations; or promote or encourage illegal activity including, but not limited to, hacking, cracking or distribution of counterfeit software, compromised accounts, or cheats or hacks for the Service.
So I can't discuss game exploits, attempt to get private info on someone, mock people, nor post "questionable" content, but still nothing on Keyloggers so far.
There's 13 more of them on the guidelines page.
And yeah, here's their page they released when they decided to 'Take Action'.
I still see nothing on Peach's claims, and am curious how she came to this conclusion now. While Discord definitely has it's share of problems, I don't see hers being mentioned anywhere.
