No. My family and I have been dyed-in -the-wool Liberals for generations.

Nothing you can say about any Republican anywhere would make me support that individual.

I've even boycotted Ted Nugent, who was a guilty pleasure of mine for years.

I scratched my very first celebrity crush off my list bc he turned out to be a Republican. He's not a horrid douchey Republican, but... blah. Still not ideologically compatible  :P

It's interesting how some people will openly admit that reinforcing their ideology comes above all else and that said ideology is derived from some sense of family tradition.

We could replace 'liberal' with a religious sect and suddenly we'd be dealing with the sort of fundamental religious movement most people despise. Logically ideologies work the same, the ideas differ but the way conclusions are obtained is the same. Both have constructed a framework that is incapable of dealing with the actual complexity of reality and both work towards finding variables that confirm that framework while ignoring others that don't.

I didn't say my political leanings come from a family tradition.

They come from watching the lameass way conservative politicians have always cut much needed funding in areas that matter to us.

So don't accuse me of being unscientific, silly. I've taken several poli sci courses, thx. I don't support anybody who would turn the crown jewel of Canadian Liberalism (our free healthcare) into another American style pay per use money grab. It's just that simple.

The cons are also notorious for drawing up policies that harm low income families, single mothers, natives, and students.

Religious sect... lol

You mentioned that your family have been liberal for generations. Do you think this has had no effect on your thinking? At the least it's reasonable to believe, especially given your usual oversimplification of the worlds problems, that you've spent a lot of time in an echo chamber.

They come from watching the lameass way conservative politicians have always cut much needed funding in areas that matter to us.

Do you ever find fault in liberal thinking and solutions to certain problems? Is a liberal solution always better than a conservative one?

So don't accuse me of being unscientific, silly.

When weighing policy do you navigate using a framework focused on reducing your own bias and selecting variables that can adequately describe the complexity of a problem or do you merely go with the liberal solution?

I've taken several poli sci courses, thx.

This is irrelevant.

I don't support anybody who would turn the crown jewel of Canadian Liberalism (our free healthcare) into another American style pay per use money grab. It's just that simple.

Cool.

The cons are also notorious for drawing up policies that harm low income families, single mothers, natives, and students.

Do liberal policies ever harm these groups? Do conservative policies ever benefit them?

Religious sect... lol

Yes, here's an example.

These type of people exist and as you can see you have a lot in common with them.

Many conservatives also read bills and keep up with what their government by reading documents. As such its reasonable to think conservatives and liberals are both fully capable of keeping up to date with their countries policies without giving into hype and spin created by news networks.

I phrase things simply for this forum bc Idc what most of these ppl think. Remember, these are people who make up obscene lies about me. Why would I bother with careful research and appropriate jargon for them? Off the top of my head, I can recall 5 SC users telling me they don't even read my posts at all. My understanding is not oversimplified. However, the way I relay the information for this forum is.

And you're conflating 2 things that are not the same, here.

I already told you that there are sound, quantifiable physical and financial reasons for our not wanting to support Conservatives. Money, healthcare, and legal protection. All of which could result in poorer health, lack of job opportunities, and even death to some of us (within my family) if cut by the Cons and misinterpreted by the wrong bureaucrats.

Unlike your religious example, which basically comes down to people arguing about whose imaginary friends are better lol

And frequenting abortion clinics as a guilty pleasure? Nobody does that. Born again weirdos don't even bs about that as a pitch for their born again-ness, unless they're looking for some truly stupid followers.

I also don't verbally support American Republicans bc their way of doing things trickles up here and contaminates our news sources. As you can see with Stephen Harper's Yankee Doodle Andy puppet, and Rebel Media.

It makes no sense to me whatsoever that these people want to privatize healthcare and education. And I do whatever is in my power to stop them.

So hell yes. When fighting people who have an extreme socioeconomic advantage over me to prevent them from taking everything from me, I do spend a great deal of time reinforcing my ideology. To do otherwise could be a death sentence for me.

It's a lot like fighting a guy with a size and weight advantage over me. I will always use whatever weapon I can grab to take him down.

Where ideology and political discourse are concerned, it's a battle of words, not crowbars lol. But economically, I know when I'm outmatched, and I refuse to get my butt whupped one on one by a bigger and meaner opponent when I can reach for a weapon. Metaphorically speaking, ofc.

If you disagree with a Canadian, he shows you his diplomas and then runs for Wiki to prove his points.

I guess this isn't true then.

I already told you that there are sound, quantifiable physical and financial reasons for our not wanting to support Conservatives.

Conservatives do the same and a great number of them have very sound reasoning based on very sound data and models. This of course informs their support of conservative policy over liberal policy. What actually makes either side more valid? Is either side more valid in actuality? Is it feasible that conservative policy is the best action to take to confront certain problems while liberal ones are the best solutions for others?

Money, healthcare, and legal protection. All of which could result in poorer health, lack of job opportunities, and even death to some of us, if cut by the Cons and misinterpreted by the wrong bureaucrats.

Conservatives who use sound reasoning based on sound data and models also have similar concerns.

Unlike your religious example, which basically comes down to people arguing about whose imaginary friends are better lol

You missed the point, it applies to ideologues in general. There isn't much difference between a conservative, liberal, nazi, marxist, atheist, Christian, or Muslim when they only search for confirmation of their own ideals and act in accordance to a very narrow oversimplified framework.

And frequenting abortion clinics as a guilty pleasure? Nobody does that. Born again weirdos don't even bs about that as a pitch for their born again-ness, unless they're looking for some truly stupid followers.

Health clinics have definitely been and are boycotted by pro-life groups. Its not far fetched to think that individuals in this group derive some sort of pleasure from their false sense of piety and moral superiority.

Conservatives use sound reasoning to argue for the things that matter to them. Private religious schools and topups and tax breaks for married couples before singles. Cuts to school lunch programs so big business can pay less tax. So their reasoning makes sense to them. It's damaging to my particular demographic, tho. I pay my taxes and want my money's worth, too.

There are huge differences between Nazis, Marxists, Liberals, Cons, atheists, Muslims and Xtians. A good number of people within each of those groups do choose their ideologies bc they believe that their way is the best way.

And I didn't miss your point. You're assuming that I don't have enough information to make a sound decision wrt my political and ideological leanings. And I'm telling you that I do. My political leanings are not a post hoc rationalization for some viciously circular notion I swallowed in childhood, like one of Pavlov's drooly dogs. I put a few years of careful study into my voting choices. They benefit me, and they benefit a larger number of people than what the Cons are claiming they want to do if they come to power.

About the abortion clinics lol It's not all that relevant, but here's some Deadly Tedly

When I said he was a guilty pleasure, I mean he was hilarious and fun in his day, and a kickass guitarist. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to his radio show through the last half of the 90s, before he got all weird with his politics.

People don't approach abortion clinics expecting the same levels of fun and excitement that they get from rock concerts  ;D
