I wonder how smart they figured a normal person is, and for that matter how smart a normal person will be by 2050.
I don't think peoples intelligence would be changed, only their knowledge base would be.
They probably just made statistical estimations of the current rate of the AI's intelligence increase compared to the rate of scientific progress in time.
Because scientific progress is an exponential function and AI progress is directly influenced by it(as well as by its own speed in the science niche, obviously).
