I wonder how smart they figured a normal person is, and for that matter how smart a normal person will be by 2050.  

I don't think peoples intelligence would be changed, only their knowledge base would be.

They probably just made statistical estimations of the current rate of the AI's intelligence increase compared to the rate of scientific progress in time.
Because scientific progress is an exponential function and AI progress is directly influenced by it(as well as by its own speed in the science niche, obviously).

By your account... the very first amino acids that impossibly by mathematical standards got together... perfected their ability to sustain AND procreate life on the very first shot... in a hostile environment... no evolution necessary... think about that for just a second... I say there was guidance for sure... Intelligent Design and Creation...

I remember reading that scientists either recreated or had a huge jump into recreating the primordial soup from where life came from. I do not remember exactly. But its out there.

The more hostile the environment the better, the higher the chances to create the necessary components for life. And the planet was extremely hostile back then.

Now you do know that the observable universe is estimated to be around 0.000000000....1%(forgot exact number of zeros) of the entire universe and even in here we have more then quadrillions of solar systems, each with multiple planets. And mathematically, random life like ours is very likely to happen somewhere. Even more then once.

Here is the oversimplification... Time is a construct of G-d and therefore G-d is beyond time... G-d is not waiting for anything... it is done... as for the elect... well... why G-d does what he does... Hmmm... imagine a tapestry... you are looking up at it from the backside and it is fucking huge!  It looks all wonky... and like a bunch of stray threads tied in knots... G-d and Heaven look down on the tapestry... and it is small and beautiful... every thread in place... the tapestry is done... all threads are tied... and it looks amazing from a G-d's point of view...

Oh I can totally agree with that. My point was that from our perspective, God looks across all of temporal existence, recognizes those who are worthy of/choose salvation, and in this extra-chronological perspective redeems those people according to whatever manner he sees fit. Conversely, he could just as easily put out the welcome mat and see who bites. But its six of one and half a dozen of another because either way, he knows what is going to happen. And either way, the exact same people would end up in heaven. The way I see it, predestination is just a rather blunt way of saying that some people aren't going to make the cut, or won't choose to join the team, depending on your idea of redemption. It isn't that anyone is excluded. Its just he already knows what the winning lottery numbers are going to be. Though of course from his perspective, when the lottery occurs is inconsequential. In his existence, it already has happened, is happening, and will happen all at the same time.

Man these are the most stimulating conversations I've had in a minute.

That is precisely what I was trying to bring the convo around to.

(Excuse my indirect and drawn out manner of communicating. For lack of a proper village idiot... or maybe bc of an excessive number of them lol... a group of regulars on this forum have collectively decided that mine is the opinion not worth paying attention to. I end up playing a whole lot of games to get my point out there when it matters.)

The Calvinistic view can be interpreted to condone a lot of crappy behaviour. I mean, if certain people are going to heaven regardless of behaviour, why bother being nice to each other at all, right?

The games don't really help your case.
