I can enjoy happy endings but not nearly as much as tragic dark ones.
For every character I've ever taken a liking to, I've wanted them to fight to get it all, lose it all and then watch what they do when they have nothing. Will they fight harder because they have nothing to lose? or will the remain broken and realize anymore struggle is pointless, living with that loss
Perhaps I'd enjoy a happy ending where someone learns to cope with that tragic loss and moves on with their life

The story-line of Breaking Bad was very much like that.

On topic, the story is what matters to me. The ending I would like depends on the rest of the story. My favorite kind of endings are the unexpected ones, the ones that make me go: whoaaa! I love endings that change the entire perspective on the rest of the events. Surprise me at the end, and I will love your film/play/story.

In a boarding school is a girl who has a crush on a boy. It is a boy who tends to be bullied.
Conflict
In a heap of joy the boy tells her that he got a girlfriend trying to explain that the girl who bullied him just liked him.
Rising Action
In adulthood they all live together so she gets to listen to her crush have sex with another woman every morning. It turns out these characters are just clones so they will soon be forced to start donating their organs one by one to cancer patients. It sheds light on the fact the girlfriend of the man only had lust for him and never ever loved him so she tells the girl.
There is hope when they find a contest that states the best artist will be granted more years to live out their lives before donating all their organs.The girl gets the man of her dreams and goes on a journey to submit the drawings.
Climax
It turns out the contest was a fake because there is no reward. It means the two love birds will get no time together before they die.
Falling action
The ex girlfriend of the man is dying from organ extractions.
The girl works with the doctors so she is put further down the list so she gets to see the man she loves get his organs torn out one by one.
End
Then when the man dies it is her turn to go under and have her organs removed.
