This is a thread to post your latest and greatest nightmares!
Here's my latest:
I was at a house party with Jack and some friends. Jack was reaching in the freezer and my dog was sitting next to him. Suddenly, screams could be heard. they were the screams of a dybbuk. With every scream, the house shook. I tried to get Jack and my dog out to the car to escape. He continued to reach in the freezer and the dog laid on the ground. I had to try to convince him that whatever it was he was reaching for could be found at home once we left. He finally agreed to come with me, but my dog would not budge. I had to drag her on the ground holding her leash. she finally moved as well. The three of ran to the car out front of the house.
I sat in the driver's seat, Jack was in the passenger's and my dog sat in the back. The dybbuk's screaming was even louder. I realized then that the hood of the car was over a rock and the rock housed the dybbuk. I figured that I could just back the car up to avoid the rock. As I backed the car up, I hit something. the car flipped and tumbled. I almost got out but then noticed that something didn't feel right about it. The car hadn't really flipped. It was a trick. I had only hit a tree with the back end. The car was still drivable so we rode off.
I didn't know where we were going but didn't want to admit that to Jack. Instead I continued to pretend that I knew exactly what was happening while internally I scrambled to think of a way to save Jack. What I thought might be the dybbuk stood in the road, blocking the way, though only the size of a normal woman. I drove through her thinking that it was better to be safe than sorry. Her body hit the hood and rolled off the top, landing behind us as we continued on.
Every safe place I thought we could stop, the dybbuk was already there. There was no way to shake her. She grew larger and larger until she was able to block the road and there was no driving through. There was no ignoring her and no way to avoid admitting I didn't know where to go. I finally considered that there was no other way to save Jack but to sacrifice myself.
I stepped out of the car and lept on the dybbuk, trying to strangle her. A rebbe appeared and told me that she was one of the estries. He said I had to say her name aloud. I did this and she grew horns as I was still choking her.
I woke up.
