All right I'll let you guys into a bit of my sheltered upbringing.
Carmen was the man when I was an early teen and top 40 music was the devil according to my parents. The Carmen concerts were either free or $5, I can't remember, but they would pass around an offering plate for donations. As far as I know Carmen didn't have any big controversies. During this same time I can remember people being into Amy Grant and when she left her husband, Gary Chapman the contemporary christian community sort of shunned her.
As far as the "Addicted to Jesus" thing... lol... I dated a guy back then that had a handgun (bc the south) with A2J engraved into it.
DCTalk is another group to talk about. And Dino Kartsonakis. Dino can play the hell out of a piano though. He's like a less gay Liberace.

And also gross. Why date a jesus freak? I mean, I'm sure there's limited selection in the bible belt, but surely there must have been someone a step above carving A2J into their handgun. XD

People like him are genuinely sick in the head, they should be pitied. It's only the topic of choice that sets him apart from those who have been kidnapped by "aliens" and those believing in magic and ghosts. There was a nabble forum member once who had really crazy ideas and she was diagnosed with smth, so there's a name for it...not schizophrenic, but smth else very similar.

There are plenty of depictions of Jesus with other features. Jesus icons in the slavic region always show him with dark hair and dark eyes.
There are black Madonnas. 
There are asian Madonnas. There's this church I entered once in Nazareth where I remember seeing depictions of the Virgin Mary from all countries (the country was written next to the depiction), and some were very far from what we're used to XD
We need to have a chat about this when I'm not at work.

Did you ever listen to Stavesacre? Rivers Underneath was a pretty decent song. A lot of the bands ended up breaking off and getting decently popular but Bleach ended up going towards the emo scene.
This is hilarious. We have to talk about this. One of my very first CD's was by Plumb. I can't remember who they were signed to but god I was so cringey at 13. I met the lead singer in the bathroom, with my hair a purplish/cough syrup red and said with stars in my eyes "I'm plumb crazy!" My friend with me at the time was just like omg... if we were old enough to drive we would have left.
