I'm sure some kind soul will show them the way. Oh, if only we could all agree on what is and what isn't spam~

Ok, I know you're slow, so look at the forum and the chat. What you see is spam. Why talk about stuff that isn't spam?

So... seven shitposts ought to be the limit, or are you saying we ought to judge based on if they're puppets or not? FMI seems to think it ought to be 10+.

If a more established user were to spam, should that be seen as okay? We need lines drawn instead of just winging it, otherwise, as Alena just said:

its something we all have to agree upon. Otherwise it'll be seen as TC doing whatever he wants.

So lets agree on something.

You are trying to define the shit in the room instead of just using your eyes and smell and cleaning it. When something is to be judged as spam, you have to look at the content, number of posts, places of posts, how long the shitposting is going on for, and make a call. You are able I hope to recognize dex-like behavior. This case (Eduhard) is as clear cut as it can be, and I don't see why we need to talk about it any further and stretch definitions and rake our brains to come up with rules to fit all future unknown cases that might never arise.

Deal with situations as they arrive, because each situation is particular. Making a rule "to fit all spam" gives both the mod and the shitposters excuses to get away with stuff.

Turncoat: "I recently tried to have a discussion about what is and isn't spam, and said I'd wait until we had an uproar so that we could actually discuss how to handle things from there being such a divide and from there being an opposition related to moderating in general. Chain posting is seen as okay, posting the same thing across topics seems to be seen as okay, and I don't see how posting multiple topics is different than chain posting beyond it littering the front page."

"Do not ruin the usability of this site (such as spam, flooding, or illegal activities)."

I have not been keeping with forum discussions regarding such things. Have I missed anything pertinent?

Turncoat: "Now, if users are willing to work on helping me see where lines ought to be drawn, I can resume working on cleaning this place up, but as is people seem happier with me just cleaning up doxxes, CP, and posts that crash topics. To do more than that is seen as censorship."

Again, the usability of the site is being ruined. The function of a forum is for users to interact. When discussion between users is being hampered by thread pages being flooded, the chat being drowned out, etc,...I see that as equivalent to the problems posed by CP being posted and topics being crashed.

Turncoat: "If a more established user were to spam, should that be seen as okay?"

No; it's still spam. Users who are "established" are staples of the community, and generally want to stick around. Typically a warning should suffice.

Alterego: "Call someone on their shit, but don't censor them."

This approach has not appeared to work with several individuals as far as I have seen.

ThenFuckit: "Chat is fine and easy to mute imo"

I agree with this, but it's more about the principle of what is being done. And not everyone who comes in here and sees that wants to stay. I've seen new users come to the site, thinking it may have potential. Then they decide to never come back, because they see some guy on a marathon of spamming random nonsense. We potentially lose interesting people this way.

ShudderHug: "its something we all have to agree upon. Otherwise it'll be seen as TC doing whatever he wants."

Don't spam the chat for hours with irrelevant nonsensical bullshit. IP ban anyone who does that. That behavior has killed numerous discussions, and caused users to leave both the chat and the site.

Don't flood the forum with pages of threads, turning the site into a cesspool. IP ban those persons.

Posting the same thing across several different topics seems rather benign. I have no strong opinion on it.

I am not familiar with what "chain posting" is.

I love how some tard is spamming, and we get useless questions like: what if this happened, what if that happened, let's put fucking numbers on it, is it 7, is it 10??. There is this thirst for generalization and wrapping everything in neat packages that I can't understand.

He hasn't so far. But he made a thread to discuss the deletion of some 7 posts in a raw Xena made to bump up a shitpost of Jim, and gleefully deleted 5 videos of Norwegian death metal Xena posted on a thread of Cadaver to piss him off. When called out on those being really minor shit compared to SC standards of shitposting, and when other similar instances that didn't get deleted where presented, Turn decided to level up his "lawyer" needs and refuses to delete even the obvious spam now.

Has TC been abusing his moderation powers? If so, how?

My opinion is the line is where someone is continually posting nonsense on a consistent basis. FMI spams the chat a little sometimes, but is generally civil. And she's not doing it all the time. The same cannot be said for everyone. Some do this on a nearly daily basis, for hours, and contribute absolutely nothing but make the site more difficult for others to use the forum as a means of communication.

In all fairness, if he was seen as overstepping his bounds, then he will want the boundaries to be clear as he always has. I am curious as to what his reasoning for doing that was, however.
