The way I see it, empathy helps create emotional bonds, and emotional bonds are useful for survival of a group. We feel love, and that makes us choose a partner and make offsprings. The spiritual helps the body survive. There's natural harmony between them.

The problem with empathy is that its fucking painful and people expect you to have it. I don't wanna hear you cry every time you lose $20 or break a toenail, and I'm gonna deal with my own bullshit too. Deal with your shit cuz I probably can't relate. There are a couple exceptions to this for me.
