Now for instance say person B is in a highly unfortunate circumstance but person A feels bad for him and in some cases helps him even though the unfortunate circumstance was a product of his idiocy, now why should person A help person B?Wasn't this supposed to be survival of the fittest?now one may use the "it's about humanity as a whole and not about one member of a single specie" which does make sense as it keeps the social bond healthy and humanity would thrive as a result if this were to happen on a massive scale, but this brings me to my next issue which is why do we feel bad for those people not even physically healthy and have some genetic complication etc, like the people with ALS,wouldn't survival of the fittest be that these people be discarded and not putting a burden on resources for the "more fitter" humans so humanity as a whole can thrive???
Person A should help Person B so Person B doesn't create a resistance movement and set fire to A's crops and rape his wife and steal his stuff and leave Person A gutted and hanging from a tree as a warning to other rich, power mad assholes.
Duh.
Even a person with a disease like ALS has friends and family. People with crippling diseases will often choose to end their own lives bc it's the right thing to do.
But if you take that choice from them, people get pissed off and want revenge. Everybody knows that. The politicians who spew this 'survival of the fittest' rhetoric at election time know better than anybody what the masses would do if the Powers That Be started putting bullets in everybody who has a shitty life.
So who's the boring member who's going to invoke Godwin's Law and prove my point?
:P
"Stupid argument and the replies from the wannabe emotionless villains in this thread are even more cringe. First of all debt and reciprocity have no relation to empathy, empathy is merely perceiving and relating to someone's internal states and the situation / reality frame they are in. Empathy being supposedly useless (let's see how much you hate it when you fall in the mercy of someone to help you out of a situation lol)"
