Its a theoretically interesting topic but, when actually carried out it's just an arduous task with seldom reward. Perhaps voluntary torture even. Why do it when you could just go to the beach and read a book by the ocean? Maybe have some ice cream?

Sadism is it's own reward. It's inherent in most if not all people on some level, and when empowered it tends to make for a more liberated, less repressed individual. Seeing someone either squirm in their own pain or failure, or to see them mindlessly embrace it through being enabled is what makes many degrees of otherwise annoying, cringe-worthy people worth any amount of investment, similar to the appreciation of a good B Movie.

It's also easier to justify it if you can convince yourself that they "have it coming". Of course it's not really about that, it's about validating yourself for enjoying something people see as taboo. It's not just a matter of personal guilt, it's also a matter of impression management.

I prefer to let them feel comfortable so that they'll be more likely to continue slipping up. That allows a case to be built that can be used at the right time.

Letting them think the excuses worked has them set the bar lower too. They'll be more likely to make mistakes if they figure that you're gullible enough to follow it or apathetic enough about it to continuously let things slide.

Yes. Gullibility is a sociopaths favorite word, however if you are going to play dumb you must never admit you are dumb. When people draw attention to their own stupidity it's an immediate red flag they are a manipulative person.

agreed. unless you have proof, doing anything seen as 'hounding' sets up an easier route to playing victim for them, and also presenting an alternative narrative such as having a personal vendetta against them rather than there being any truth to the claims. this can be adapted based on highly reactive traits about the 'audience' to make you look like the bad guy.

"There is no one size fits all..."

I've held this thought as knowledge for quite some time.  As for the flaws of particular personality types providing easier opportunities to "break" such types, I agree to an extent... flaws make all types easier to break.

I do think the obsessive need for control some people tend to display allows for a easily manipulated person... however, some folks of this type can have their shit wired so tight it would make breaking into their lives difficult, but not impossible.

Nothing is impossible, blanc.

Victimizing another sociopath is quite spicy, I guess it would be enjoyable shrugs
