I don't think this is a serious q but i'll answer anyway...men are physically stronger than women, and when humanity first evolved and we were basically just like any other animal that physical strength meant a lot, and there were different roles in society out of necessity. Now we have moved past the days of bashing each other over the head with clubs that physical superiority shouldn't equal social dominance, and i don't think anybody is seriously arguing men are superior to women in mental capacity.
The same way communism happened, despite so many claims that capitalism is the superior system.
The same way Islam happens, despite claims that Xtianity is the better system.
The same way Amway and Walmart and Target happened despite claims that JC Penny is better.
They're all social constructions, guy. They all come and go.
Thanks Limey. Tbh I have limited interest in politics and political movements, and not sure I could sit through a long video on the subject. But I do take your point that it's basically a difference in semantics. I guess the concept of feminism is abstract and means different things to different people, and it's seen as a radical movement by some because those within the movement who are radical tend to shout with the loudest voice.
I was just interested to see if Tony has a problem with women generally, since the way he relates to women here really suggests that he does. Way back on the nabble forum, not long after i joined, i mentioned how i'd aced a job interview. Tony, who i'd never really interacted before and knew nothing about me or what type of job i'd got, replied with 'the interviewer must have been sexually attracted to you'. There are countless examples littering the forums of how he speaks to women this way, and it stands out to me because it's just so bizarre, and even though i come from a pretty macho community, i've never encountered anyone irl who seems to have such a problem with the opposite sex.
Where I'm from I don't think feminism is really much of a thing, and i tend to think of it as a historical thing like the suffregettes and stuff. Given that Xena and Tony have such strong opinions, perhaps the situation is different in Canada.
