"BTW, ret's recent threads are just old threads from the nabble forum that he randomly copy-pasted here. It's not his stuff."
So that's where it's from. When Sin noted the signature in another topic, that prompted me to try to look into it. Google searching select quotes from the topics didn't bring up any results, so instead I tried to take it seriously until proven unserious.
It's "hypocrites" ... Is this some sort of Hippocrates (i.e. Hippocratic Oath) reference? Otherwise, if you're going to call somebody something, at least get the word right. Otherwise, you look like a dufus and which would you rather be: a dufus or a hypocrite?
Many people who are well above average in other areas of intelligence, have such seemingly inexplicable weak points. It's quite common. TC for instance, since I know you already respect his intelligence. I sometimes have to be outrageously specific with him, because there are certain types of things that he has a baffling misunderstanding of. He's still one of the most intelligent people I've ever known. But his thought process functions very differently from other people. While that usually works fine for him, sometimes it fails him in spectacular ways. It doesn't make him stupid, it's just a quirk.
So persistent.
"in answer to your question, it's not so much about throwing him under the bus as much as throwing out bait for people (like yourself) to attack or question her"
This post of yours would appear to be further bait.
It's easy enough at this point to suspect that you'd want this drama to continue. Your own approach here could be seen as a lesser form of gaslighting in itself.
"so she can then play the victim (a role she is extremely comfortable though not too convincing in) and set the tone for TC to second guess any criticism made toward her treatment of him (see? they don't understand us, TC)"
I'm perfectly capable of judging it on my own, and split from her opinion more than often enough. Do you really see me as the sort of person to agree with everything that anyone says?
"while simultaneously reinforcing the idea that TC cannot function cognitively using his own perceptions."
Err, where was this shown? Her comment's closer to referencing the two errors I commonly make:
1) Taking things too literally.
2) Tangenting to something completely unrelated.
Neither of those two things are about my perceptions, but rather errors made within communication. You're taking what's been called a quirk and running in an entirely different direction with it. Even Motor understood where she was going with that, and I've discussed this error of mine in the past in older topics, such as during a conversation with Mr. Nu.
"this may be true, but i doubt her highly convoluted accounts of events make things any clearer for him."
There's always room to doubt one's account of events, and I know this to the point of doubting my own as well. I know that all accounts are murky, not just my own.
"he's probably better off going to a psychiatrist which she (funnily enough) is strongly against."
She's actually been thinking it might be a good idea for me to find a therapist while I'm the one who strongly doubts that they'll be able to fix anything. What she and I are against, from our own separate experiences, is medication.
Instead of beating around the bush, why don't you type the narrative of her and I's relationship as you believe it to be. It's clearly expanded upon just being what's been seen on this forum from attempting to fill in the blanks on your own while finding more and more ways to state that my own perspective shouldn't be trusted in favor of your own.
I realize this is largely hyperbole, but I'll address it anyways. I used him as an example because I know Ed respects his intellect and because it seemed an obvious example, from knowing him so well. As I said, it's nothing but a quirk. Everyone has their odd weaknesses. To me, this is no different than the fact that I can't go down stairs without looking at my feet, despite not having balance issues in other areas. It doesn't mean I'm physically inept, it's just an oddity. Just like the occasions in which Turncoat misinterprets something in a way that no one else would. Pointing that out is hardly throwing him under the bus. Hell, if he said something along the lines of "Crow can't go down stairs without looking at her feet. She's otherwise one of the most graceful people I know, but if she tries to look up while walking down a set of stairs, she'll fall flat on her ass.", I'd be rather flattered. XD
