Another example of everyday manipulation: first dates. Watching this is cringeworthy, but then I remember that those are only actors. The reason this is manipulation and not just lying is because there is a purpose behind it - the lying is being used as a tactic to make the manipulator(s) seem like an ideal mate. It's sort of like the sociopathy/autism spectrum where not everybody may be a sociopath or autistic, but everyone is somewhere on those particular spectrums. In this case, this is proof that not all things are completely manipulative, but most or all interactions are somewhere on a scale of manipulativeness.
