Have you ever thought about this world only being a hallucination? Your true self may be in a hospital, dying of lung cancer.
I've wondered if reality is a simulation of some sort before. If perhaps at some point I will "wake up" from it all, to find myself in a completely different light. These are not thoughts I take seriously, just things I ponder at times.
From the point-of-view of reality I've built from studying science, I've concluded that consciousness is indeed a hallucination. Let me explain. You know how when you take LSD, your perception becomes warped? All because one molecule passed your blood-brain barrier. You "hallucinate" things that weren't there right? Or at least experience radically different perceptions.
Well really our reality is nothing more than all of the chemicals that make it up...dopamine, serotonin, acetylcholine, glutamate, etc. Then to make the picture a little complex, it's not like it's just like a chemical like GABA goes up in your brain and does what it does...you've got GABA A, B, and C receptors for example. So really, reality is a massive hallucination caused by the action of your neurotransmitters.
That doesn't really change your conscious experience too much, though. You experience what you experience. Computer simulation, or sort of "dream," or just your brain doing what your brain does (create a "reality"), in the end it's all the same. It's what Descartes was talking about when he said his famous "I think, therefor I am." What he meant was that no matter what deceptions may exist in reality, he at least knows that he is conscious, and therefor that he exists.
I already made this thread yesterday you retard
